Welcome to lucky week 13!  Aside from some info on Snowflake, I don't have much else to update you on, so I'm going to cover some things that need to be mentioned, but don't really fit anywhere else....

Our race this weekend in Snowflake is a Sunday race, so we'll be meeting at the camp area  Saturday at 3:30, doing the preride at 4pm and team dinner around 5:45-6pm.  Take a look at the signup genius if you haven't had a chance, it's here: Feed the children parents and coaches!
The race day schedule will be the same as the Flagstaff and Prescott.  Camping at Snowflake is in a large, paved parking lot at 1840 Paper Mill Rd, Taylor, AZ 85939.  I'm planning to arrive Friday evening to try and secure an area for us, make sure to mark in the sign-up genius if you'll be in an RV or tent.

Now the stuff that doesn't fit anywhere else.....

Save the date for a sneak peek at the State Finals course.  Every year Buena invites us down to Sierra Vista the weekend before the race to help do some trail maintenance and ride the course.  We do this in place of our practice on Saturday, Oct 25th.  It's a great opportunity to volunteer to help make sure the course is in tip top shape for race weekend, and get a chance to ride the course before everyone else does. We'll discuss more details as we get closer to the weekend, you might want to pre plan with your friends about the possibility of carpooling down there.

Life after ACA State championships?
After the OVMTB season there are opportunities to continue riding and racing.  Oro Valley Bicycle has a team (OVB) that any age rider can join.  They don't have 'formal' organized practices like OVMTB, but it's a large collection of riders so you're likely to find someone to ride with if you're friendly enough. They race the MBAA XC series as well as others.  Ask me for more details, or catch up with Corey at a Tuesday practice. You've seen that Oro Valley bikes treat us really well: riding with OVB helps Oro Valley Bicycle get some of the recognition they truly deserve.

Another similar team is Shotgun racing- Great folks and I'm sure you've seen the jerseys. While many of their members are central/west Tucson, there are some in the OV area too. Email them at shotgun...@gmail.com or check them out on instagram at shotgunracingaz_kb  I think their signups happen in October.  Again, they don't have organized practices, but many of them are out riding so you're likely to not have to ride alone. No one wants that.

You'll also see some of the coaches and families at all the major MTB events; the Tucson 10'r, the 24HOP, the MBAA XC series, the Whiskey off-road and others.  If you're thinking about attending any of these, let us know or just stay in contact after our season ends, many of us continue to ride!  I will warn you, Jan-April is the regular MTB season where the coaches get to race too- it's your chance to get out there with us if you dare....

Looking forward to seeing you all at practice this evening!
