To carry out the degree project abroad does not necessarily mean increased costs. Since your degree project is part of your curriculum and you are enrolled at KTH while you carry them out, you have the opportunity to receive student aid equivalent to that of conventional studies. If the degree projects is done within the EU you can apply for Erasmus+ scholarship to cover additional expenses such as travel to and from the place of study. For studies outside of Europe there are other scholarships.
During your degree project, you can still recieve student finance from the Swedish Board of Student Finance, CSN, since you are enrolled and taking credits at KTH. This applies only if you already qualify for student finance. A so-called supplementary loan from CSN can be applied for to cover things such as higher living expenses, travel expenses and tuition fees. Learn more on CSN's website, csn.se .
Please note that the bank Danske bank that handles KTH's payments. To receive contributions paid to your bank account, you must register your account with Danske bank. If you do not register for an account you will receive a debit card to redeem at a bank sent to your home address. KTH's employer number is 505751.

Students who have been nominated by the EECS School for exchange studies can apply for a grant to cover a language course. A criteria to be eligible for the language course grant is that the language is spoken in the country where the student has been nominated fort exchange studies. Students taking degree project abroad can also take part of this offer.
If you are admitted to a study programme given by the ITM school and do your degree project (master's thesis) abroad, you can also apply to the travel grant. In order to be entitled for travel grant you need to spend a minumum of 8 weeks of your your thesis abroad.
We want to encourage everyone to learn the local language of the country where you are going. CBH school offer to cover the fee for a language course (maximum up to 4 000 SEK) taken in the country where you do your exchange or degree project. The reimbursement is done after you have paid the course fee.

KTH's HR department will administrate the application. Payments are usually done on the 25th, the month closest to your exchange start together with the other salary payments that month. The payment is usually only marked on the receiver's account as "ln" (salary in Swedish). This means it will not be directly evident that the payment is a grant from KTH.
If you are planning a degree project abroad, you can apply for a travel grant of SEK 5,000 from the SCI office. A student who receives an Erasmus scholarship or equivalent or other scholarships for studies abroad through KTH (Field Studies, Linnaeus-Palme or GDH) is not entitled to a travel scholarship. You can only receive the grant once during your study period at the SCI school.

If you do your degree project for a company they might compensate you for your work. It is possible to receive compensation even if you are granted the Erasmus scholarship. The state subsidy for studies is partly a loan and partly a grant which can be requested for studies in a public university, a school for adults, a vocational school or a private university. Behrighetsgivande kurs requires a completed upper secondary school degree and at least a level of Swedish equivalent to B2 according to the CEFR scale. If you pass our courses in Swedish as a foreign language, Svenska som frmmande sprk, you will have the level needed in Swedish to be eligible for university studies in Sweden (for courses and programmes where Swedish is required).
The credits you gain from our courses in Swedish as a foreign language cannot be included in a degree from Stockholm University. However, our course credits meet the requirements and allow you to apply for student financial aid at csn.se, the Swedish Board of Student Finance (Swedish Board for Study Support, CSN).
Stockholm University only offers courses in Swedish for beginners for exchange and international students already enrolled in at least 15 ECTS at Stockholm University. If you
contact your home municipality, they can help you sign up for SFI studies (Swedish for immigrants).
