Hey guys,

My colleague Jason had a great idea this morning and I'd like to share it with you all.

If you feel like it, please send an e-mail to the addresses I'll show below that thanks WCC for their generosity in letting us use the gym for these last several years.

Feel free to express an anecdote as to why you appreciated it, friends you came to know there, things you may have learned, etc.

Or just say thanks and that's it.

I don't want to presume there will be any fruit to our efforts in doing such a thing, other than just to be grateful people who are thankful for the time we got to play ball in a great gym.

Send to:
Victor Cruz <VC...@willowcreekchurch.org> (Janitorial)
Sabrina <sbea...@willowcreekchurch.org> (Church Administrator)
Kevin Labby <KLa...@willowcreekchurch.org> (Senior Pastor)
Jeff Smith <JSm...@willowcreekchurch.org> (Member Care Pastor)

Dear Fellow Hoopsters,

Earlier this year my family and I chose to leave our membership at Willow Creek Church and we now attend a church closer to our home in Sanford.

A few years ago WCC told me of a policy wherein they wanted those with keys to get in the buildings and alarm codes to be regular attenders or members of WCC.

When we left our membership I remembered this policy and e-mailed the church administrators to let them know I'd be happy to stay on, at least for a time, but they might want to find another person to take the keys since I was no longer a member.

Their hunt has not produced any takers so they have asked that our last day of Sonrise Hoops be this Tuesday, September 29th.

I think you all know this is a sad thing for me, as I expect it will be for many of you.

We have prayed for one another, learned about the lives of one another, rejoiced with one another over blessings in our lives, mourned with one another as we lost one of our own, laughed, played ball, and fellowshipped together, and I think we have been a great ensemble of members in the WCC community.  I thank you for letting me be a part of that.

I also thank WCC for allowing this ministry to go on for almost 8 years.  Every day of it has been important to me, even on those days where I didn't really feel like crawling out of bed at 5:15a, but you men and ladies gave me solid motivation to do it.

I especially thank Doug Joseph and Chris Richcreek for the many years of consistent attendance, consistent leadership, consistent unselfish play on the court, and consistent friendship to me that was born on the basketball court at WCC.

I'll keep this list and e-mail you if I hear of any changes to our status at WCC, but please let me know if any of you come up with an alternative for our Sonrise mornings together.

In His service - especially at sunrise ;-)

Hey Dave sorry to hear that. Really appreciate your sacrifice that made it possible for many of us to come out & play the game we enjoy so much at the only time of day most of us have free! Question, is there a possibility that First Baptist of Oviedo can become available again?

Thanks, Kad.

I'm not sure about FBOviedo, but Mike said it was a concrete court and tough on all of the old bones many of us possess.

So even if it was available then we'd lose a bunch of guys.

Thanks for giving it thought.  Let me know if you think of anything else.

And at least I'll see you on FB.

I did an internet search and St Luke's UMC in Winter Garden does something similar Tuesday through Thursday. I think that might be closer to you Kad but not sure who else.
