I reversed all of the wires from inside wires to outside and nothing happened. When I disconnected the charging battery and spun the rotor I could get a neon light to light up on the middle circuit briefly but not on the other two. Then I hooked up the two portable drill 20volt batteries and got the center transistor smoking, which probably isn't good. I think it might be better to get one of those plug in circuit boards and using bigger transistors.
Anyway, I don't have any advice. I still don't know whether the inside wires go to the transistor collectors or the 5-wire soldering block.

Thanks anyway. I think I will buy one of those circuit boards where you can plug the components in and out of so I can try different circuits.
I noticed on your drawing that your new transistor legs don't go "E B C."
