I sent this because I want to graph the flow of electricity to fully understand what is happening and if your machines are the same.
 
When I provide power to the base pole the wheel wants to move.
 
I have concluded that the problem with mine is indeed a too weak signal coming out of the trigger coil.  I may study  up on other triggering systems such as the 555.

Rolf,

if you think your trigger signal is too weak just decrease the
resistance in series with the bulb, or just take the bulb out.

Bedini uses the 555 timer as an oscillator to pulse a opto-triac to
discharge a capacitor into the charging battery, and it oscillates
completely independant of the rotor spinning. It's a completely
different set up.

However, the 555 timer is a pretty interesting animal and might come
in handy later on for this kit.
