What specific parts of Ableton do you you want to control from Overtone, and what kind of API does Ableton provide for this?

Hi Sam,

Not sure yet, whatever parts I can control :)

I was hoping that MIDI would be the answer to the API question, i.e.
that Overtone would be like any MIDI controller. But Ableton seems to
provide something called LiveAPI
(http://livecontrol.q3f.org/ableton-liveapi/) which is a Python
interface. Does that mean no-go?

Cheers,
Peter

You can send midi events to Live, or if the LiveAPI had interesting features you want to take advantage of you could implement an OSC client in Python that communicates with Overtone.
