This is wonderful news.  Our debate team was started in 2008 when the Memphis Urban Debate League was created.  In our first year we only had 4 debaters.  Now our team is one of the largest in the district with nearly 25 participating students.  Overton has had two teams to win at the city championship tournaments and thereby qualify to compete at the national urban debate league's tournament held in Chicago and NYC.  Overton is competing at the third annual city championship tournament being held this weekend at Christian Brother's University.
