Hi everyone,

We need help in finding content to go in our OVBI Facebook page.
Just so that we have a guideline, the content should be
  1. Ordinary people doing extraordinary service
  2. NRI's who have contributed back to to India
  3. People who have excelled in certain discipline
  4. Indians doing service in India.. running a charity, working in Villages etc
  5. Any other news item, which highlights the current state of the country and how we can make it better.
  6. or another article/blog/news which in your opinion qualifies for going in the OVBI Facebook page

    Fwd. it to anves...@gmail.com
Thanks,

Jai Hind!

Hello Everyone,

I have been receiving multiple requests to email a writeup about OVBI that can be used as an email to inspire people.

Do we have a write up that you can share  or can we come up with 1 quickly. The write up should also have our social media page info and website info.

Thanks,
Shivani

Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to inform that Overseas Volunteer for a Better India (OVBI) is now launched in the USA. Our motto is “Give ONE hour to India”.

Highly inspired by the wonderful work being conducted in India under the umbrella of "Volunteer for a Better India" (VFABI) movement, some of us Non Resident Indians decided to start an overseas branch of this movement.

We invite you to be a part of it and take the first step by filling out this form: Overseas VBI Registration Form. Also pass it on to your friends interested in helping out.

'Like us' on Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/OverseasVBI
Contact us if you need any information. Much work is already being done across many States across USA.

Much of the news that comes out of India these days is negative – be it violence against women and children or the corruption of some politicians who are unashamedly looting our great country of its resources. Amidst this drab atmosphere, VFABI has brought a ray of sunshine. It is giving people the
hope that things can still be redeemed. The only requirement is that the citizens have to stand up and take that first initiative to march towards eradicating all the evils that are pervading the society today.

Within two months of the launch of Volunteer for Better India in February 2013, over 1000 projects were completed by hundreds of thousands of inspired citizens all over India. Many more projects are underway. These projects have been broadly categorized under six themes: Education, De Addiction, Girl
Child and Women’s Safety, Senior Citizens, Good Governance, and Environment. Visit www.vfabi.org for more information.

Living so far away from the country of our origin, we are always thinking, what can I do from here? How can a common person like me make a difference in a country that seems to be totally apathetic to its own ills? It is this thought that brought about the launch of Overseas Volunteer for a Better India – a
movement by the common people, of the common people and for the common people.

OBJECTIVE

OVBI’s main objective is to support the activities of VFABI in India. The government of India has become a joke in American political or social circles. By supporting the activities of VFABI, we will attempt to do our bit to redeem the Indian glory.

We will also focus on the Indian community living in the United States – their needs and concerns. While a number of organizations exist that cater to Indians of different ethnic backgrounds (aka states of origin or mother tongue), there isn’t a single organization that speaks to all Indians at large. Most problems
and needs that exist are irrespective of the ethnic affiliation, for instance, economy related issues, domestic violence issues and so on.

OVBI’s attempt is to address all these issues.

We invite you to be a part of this movement and take the first step by filling out this form: Overseas VBI Registration Form. Your country and the people of your country need you. Together we can make a difference.

Looking forward to standing shoulder to shoulder with you.

Sincerely,

Overseas Volunteer for a Better India Team

Great write up guys...
Only one suggestion:
The motto can be improved to reflect the request of one hour "everyday"...

On a different note:
We have so many efforts going on, and so much great content is already available...
e.g. just saw this great video from shivani's signature link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLIx-3dp9dY

It would be great if we can create, may be an internal facebook page (or a form) where interested people can send the material... This will reduce the # of emails, and increase the chances of getting more material...

VBI (India)'s facebook page has tonns of wonderful material that can be repackaged for our audiences...

Also, some of us are working on creating new material, particularly videos, so if you know people (including yourself) with relevant skills/interests, do contact me back by a separate email... We can generate a lot of new material...

Best,
Ashutosh.
