sunday's live session

Assalaamu alaikum everyone,

Hope you're all doing well and enjoying the course so far :)

Today (Saturday) is an off-day, so if you've been falling behind, today is a good day to get caught up.  And if you've been keeping up, alhamdulillah ... you get to take the day off and do something fun!

Sunday (tomorrow) we are having our live sessions ... a few things:

1) Everyone: kindly send me your questions beforehand (i.e right now) - this will make it much easier to take care of the questions and move forward with the recitation session.

2) Also as a general thing: try to make use of this google groups more ... you might have a question, and someone else in the group may be able to answer it.  One of the best ways for you to learn and solidify your understanding is to engage in discussion and Q&A with each other.  You help others, they help you, and collectively we all benefit.  Even just jotting down a few "what I learned" points and sharing it can help you and others as well.

3) Brothers: kindly use this spreadsheet (http://bit.ly/OndrjS) to schedule yourself in for recitation.  Don't schedule yourself in for consecutive sessions (i.e. if you recited on Wednesday, then let others go ahead tomorrow ... but feel free to put yourself in the "if-there's-time" list ... and then you can put yourself back in for next Wednesday).  If there's a real need we can add another recitation session (not a full live session with Q&A) to accommodate others ... however at the same time I believe there's lots to be learned from what others are doing, so I don't want to split the group up too much.  Oh, and you'll notice an extra session on Wed at 10am New York time ... this is for a few brothers who got stuck in the wrong time zone :)  We can take one more person in that slot if the main sessions don't work for you for time zone reasons; others are welcome to join and listen in.

4) Sisters: kindly use this spreadsheet (http://bit.ly/MoNnea) to schedule yourselves in.

Salam brother,

just a suggestion,

why not make the Q&A just for the forum so everyone can get a chance to recite with you during the live session, i feel like reciting would be a big help and very purposeful for all of us in learning and perfectin the maqam inshalla.

Assalamualikum. I was doing fine and was able to copy exactly, mic turned on - my heart was coming out of my chest and couldn't concentrate lol. I got nervous which is unusual. Anyways, Br Idrees, Jazakallahukhayran, I am learning  a lot.

We should meet up one day inshallah since you do live in Toronto area. Just a thought. Even after the course. Perks of living close to Ustadhs :)
