We're off for another week but I'd like to hit the ground running when Doug gets back. 

Any questions I can answer for the group?

So, I'm looking at Elves, and they say
"Any Elf who has taken more than 225 yrs has witnessed suffering. Years of emotion and strife take their toll, and the Elf begins to feel Grief tug at his heart." 

If the 3 lifepaths I take make me younger than 225 years, does that mean I don't have/can't gain any Grief until I've lived to 225? Or is this a recommendation for how many years of lifepaths I should have, since it seems super boring to not have Grief?

Initial thought was Elf: Born Into Citadel -> Student -> Adjutant. And the thought was I was the adjutant for an ELven Officer/Master, who succumbed to Grief on the ship over.

I believe you just get extra starting Grief if you're older than 225.

Every Elf has Grief. Some just have an extra amount. I believe there is a checklist for how much you start with that we can go through.

The Elves are expert seafarers in the old world (hailing from one of the lands that borders the ocean) so it certainly makes sense. You can also have a connection to the party of Elves that supported the initial discoverer of the island but who have since disappeared into the wilds, but that;s not necessary.

Is this a second edition? I thought Dwarves' grief and Orcs' hatred were like Elves' grief. You had to keep testing them throughout play.

No, you keep testing. You just start with a higher stat.

Did anyone ever find a good place to make character sheets online? The best I could find was an editable PDF of the  character sheet that came with the Burner.

I literally cannot respond to the Myth-Weavers "Session Calendar" thread (it's stickied/locked).

I'm only free Friday and Saturday of this week (which otherwise would be Civ 6 days!).

Friday and Saturday don't work for me sadly. I am getting my wisdom teeth out Friday morning and will likely be unable to communicate that much.

Are there any easy to miss rules/skills during character creation? I just noticed "read" is a skill. If I don't have it, am I just illiterate? Or am I just a slow reader?

You can attempt anything untrained but I am pretty sure you MUST have a skill in order to do it.

Sorry, it sounds like the first half contradicts the second half. I'm honestly confused.

So, in the example where I have no Read skill, I could attempt it untrained? Or since I don't have the skill, I can't do it?

No I mean, your character has no ability to do anything unless they have a skill.

However you can try anything untrained. There are some caveats though. It's called "Beginner's Luck"

Yep, I double-checked. Reading AND Writing are separate skills and if you have no exponent you cannot do them.
Moreover, you can't actually use Beginner's Luck because they are Academic skills and thus must be taught and cannot be learned through beginner's luck.

Sorry guys, I don't think I'll be able to make it tonight. My ear infection seems to have come back, and I don't have time to go see the doctor besides during the session time (morning my time).

I will be back in the states from next Monday until December 12th, though, so I should be easier to schedule with for a while.
