There isn't much more damage they can do. The bridge is almost covered. I don't think anything they painted is offensive (but I don't know any gang symbols) so maybe we can just leave it. It looks like they will just paint it again if we remove what is there.

Maybe this would be a good question for our community police officer Scott Zimmerman? I will try to contact him this week. I think it wouldn't hurt to let MV security know that this is becoming a perennial issue..

I think this is a relatively minor issue, not one worth raising the alarm over. It would be different if the graffiti was derogatory or malicious. I would definitely alarmed if they were defacing people's homes or cars.
Just my 10 cents.

My concern is that if it is gang related, then that might mean that we will see more vandalism in the future, maybe from other parties and in other areas. But I know very little about this. I will see what I can find out. Doesn't hurt.

My opinion.
The police and security should be notified. The home owners pay for the security and should be able to use the service when needed. The police may be able to look at the tagging to identify if it is gang activity and it could be happening other places in Montgomery Village.
In addition, if nothing is done about the bridge, they may start on the sidewalks, fences and houses next. I know that spray paint can be hard to cover up.
Also a suggestion is to install bright lights around the areas because there may be other illegal activities happening in the area. Lighting around the bridge and the tunnel may help; especially the tunnel which is very dark. We ride bikes there and I will not go through there by myself. Even before it is completely dark outside the tunnel gets dark.
Lastly, that is a beautiful area and we should do what is needed to keep it beautiful and safe.

Hi All,
I am sorry, I was off the grid temporarily.
This was reported to the MVF for cleanup, and also, as it is their bridge, should go to security.
I have notified security as well, but patrols of the bridge are not frequent. The guard must cover all MVF properties.
If any of you has a picture, I will send it to the gang unit. I have not been made aware of any gang activity in our area.
If the tagging is still evident, would one of you please email me a picture(s)?
