TRACN4@Work - N4 Long Weekend Construction Update

PLAN YOUR TRIP THIS COMING WEEKEND
08 - 11 August 2013

The N4 toll route will be busy this long weekend with a high number of motorists expected to travel between Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Swaziland and Mozambique.

TRAC is currently busy with extensive upgrades along various sections of the N4 which make cause some delays.

EXPECTED PEAK TIMES:

Thursday, 08 August: 14h00 - 19h00
Friday, 09 August: 08h00 - 10h00
Sunday, 11 August: 12h00 - 19h00

CONSTRUCTION ZONES:

Middelburg:

Major construction between Van Dyksdrift and Hendrina/N11 off-ramps. A new double divided freeway is being constructed.

The eastbound left lane will be closed between Van Dyksdrift and Samora Machel(Fontein Str) for 600m on 08 August from 09h00 to 13h00.

In a westbound direction the left lane will be closed for 4km between the Hendrina/N11 and Samora Machel (Fontein Str) exits between 08h00 and 16h00 on 08 August.

Schoemanskloof:

Rehabilitation work is underway. Two separate 24-hour stop/go traffic control points are in place between Joubert & Sons and Montrose.

A third stop/go control point will be in place between Mooiplaats and Indabushe. This is a temporary control.

Add approximately 20 minutes to your trip.

Nelspruit to Malalane:

The N4 is being upgraded from Karino through the Crocodile Gorge to Kaapmuiden.

One stop/go traffic control point is in place between Karino near Mabalel Lodge past the Mara intersection to the Kanyamazane exit.

Heavy traffic can be expected in this area. At peak times delays of 40 minutes and more can be experienced.

Komatipoort:

Another traffic control point is in place just after the Komatipoort Load Control Centre (near Sasol garage) to the Komati Oasis BP garage.

Delays of 20 minutes or more can be expected depending on traffic volumes.

Remember: Speed restrictions apply in all construction areas. Please adhere to the speed limits. Strict law enforcement can be expected along the route.

Traveling to Kruger National Park South

Allow for possible delays and longer traveling times between Nelspruit and Malalane. Plan your trip in advance in order to reach the park's gates before closing times.

Avoid the Komatipoort stop/go on your way to the Crocodile Bridge gate. From the N4, take the Tenbosch turn-off and travel via the Ngwenya Lodge road to Crocodile Bridge or the Komatipoort CBD.

Border Operating Hours:

Swaziland - Oshoek: 07:00 - 22:00
Swaziland - Jeppes Reef: 07h00 - 20h00
