WAECO fridge to be repaired

Has anybody an idea where we could get our WAECO Fridge repaired in Swakopmund?

 

When I switched it on this afternoon it showed 46 degrees when the ambient temperature was less the 20.  

The compressor runs al the time and the temperature oscillates between 37 and 48 degrees.

 

It’s probably the temperature sensor that makes the problem, it had already to be replaced some years ago.

My Waecos have an emergency override switch for the thermostat. It makes the switch run permanently , but you can at least then keep things cold and control it manually until you can get it repaired

Thanks will go and have look.

I went to a workshop that repairs fridges. The problem is they have to get the spare parts from Jhb and it takes several days.

 

For now I have fixed it with a normal thermostat, I installed for a fan, that normally helps to cool the fridge on hot days. Now it’s switching the 12 Volt + lead with it, and the sensor is inside the fridge.

As I hear often in 'n boer maak 'n plan.

We are back in South Africa and will soon stay a few days in Bloubergstrand. Then we can bring the Waeco fridge for repairs.

Any recommendation for workshop in the region. I found a Waeco Dealer in Milnerton but don’t if they do repairs.

I called a Mr. Brits in Brackenfell, and will bring it in next week.

Is there a waeco repair place in JHB, my 220v powersupply seems to have blown on the extremely bad road from Nossob to Mabua.

I last took it to Moresport in Boksburg a few years ago, they do not seem to exist anymore.

Let us know how it goes... The biggest issue is balancing the cost of repair vs scrapping/buying new... An issue that comes into play more often with SnoMaster's than other brands.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the problem is. It's a Waeco fridge about 8 years old. Runs perfectly down to -18 on 220v, runs fine on 12v until the ambient temp gets too high in the car, then the error lights flash. Hopefully Johan can sort it out
