Hi all,

Just on the off-chance that somebody had recent experience.

I need my South African matric certificate for a permit here in Namibia. I can't even remember ever having seen mine, let alone still have it.

I looked at the website and : I need to get a postal order at the post office, take certified copies and original ID documents and completed forms to the nearest Dept of Basic Education. I will be issued with a Statement of Results immediately (which may or may not suffice) and can expect the certificate (which I really need) in 4-8 weeks. I recently believed what the SA Govt website explicitly told me, which cost me an air ticket and three days in Cape Town. So advise will be welcome.

I have a few questions ;

1) Having matriculated in 1981 in Pietersburg (Polokwane) in the Transvaal Education Department (TED), will any office be able to process my request and will they have the results digitally ?

2) How long will this process take ? (I am going to fly in from Namibia only for this exercise so need to plan).

3) Any other tips or gotchas (nudge,wink).......

4) Where is this Department in Pretoria and/or Cape Town and what are the lines like ? (Please note that I don't ask whether there will be lines, it is South Africa, after all !).

Seeing the cost I am going to have to incur, and the urgency, paying a Don't Q a substantial amount of money to sort this out, will not be a problem if such an avenue exists for these documents.

Regards,

Willem

Greetings All

Time to replace my ageing charger (El cheepo from Midas). Any suggestions? Needs to charge from my 125 Scooter to Hercules's 105amp deep cycle.

There has been threads on here before but I suspect I have deleted them.

Cheers
Pete

Look like there is no shortcut other than try to phone Dept of Basic Education or Umalusi. Pdf also attached with some addresses and phone numbers (perhaps you already have them).

I lost my matric certificate. How do I get a new matric certificate? So, you’ve lost your matric certificate and now you need it. Having your matric certificate reissued is not difficult. Try one of the following:
  • Phone the national Department of Basic Education in Pretoria. Have your ID number and exam number handy and ask them to send you the necessary forms to have it reissued.
  • Phone your local Department of Basic Education. Provide the necessary details such as your ID, school you attended, year you matriculated and exam number.
  • Contact Umalusi. They will advise you to apply for a replacement certificate at the Assessment Body where you wrote the exam i.e. either a provincial department of education or the IEB or the Onafhanklike Afrikaanse Eksamenraad (previously BCVO). You need to send an affidavit with your application.

I'd say phone them first. I also see if you are abroad someone else can apply for you at a Basic Education Office.
