Ah, best service I’ve been getting recently is from these guys https://www.mixtelematics.co.za/consumer-solutions/beame, but we don’t deal with any of the tracking companies directly, only via the insurers.
What I like about the BEAME unit is that it a stand-alone system, that doesn’t need to be wired into the vehicle.
In general though, I avoid tracking as far as possible, and would rather recommend an insurer that doesn’t require it. It gives us more headaches than it solves, and we usually end up with clients who are upset about things that we can do nothing about.
There’s a rumour in our industry, that when some of the bigger tracking companies find their unit disposed of on the side of the road, and the vehicle long gone, they count that as a recovery.

ZA’s largest insurer usually don’t require tracking in any personal vehicles, and they do allow discounts if you have one, but as you say, I’d rather pay the higher premium. Tell the insurers that the tracking unit is playing havoc with the vehicles electronics, and they need to waive the requirement.

Im just paying the higher premiums and excess. There is no way I will ever use either of these companies again. Fortunately its only on the M4 that I need this kak. The other vehicles don’t need it.
