A bit off topic, yet probably still in our court. Would anyone like to help?

Spoken to them. The price of the collar has jumped to 25k and they do not have it yet due to insufficient funds.

If you donate, pse indicate “Overland” (and your name) on the deposit slip. If we get enough donations we will be invited to the collaring and release.

URGENT HELP REQUIRED

Hi guys

We are trying to get help from who ever is prepared to help us in this case. Jobedi Game

Reserve is situated outside of Vaalwater and Elize from Foto Uniek told me who to contact. We at

Jobedi rescued a Leopard from a snare and below is the story and how you can help.

This male "Mohlatsi" (meaning the Lucky One) was caught in a snare on 09 May 2008 set by the

locals to trap warthogs to feed their families. Jobedi received a phone call from Naturemail: phi...@leisuresure.co.za

Conservation to assist in helping the cat. Normally in situations where Nature Conservation is

involved the easiest way is to put the animal out of its mysery since they don't have the resources

or the funding to manage situations such as this.

Trevor and the local vet saw that there is a chance of saving this boy and by darting it we were

able to free it from the snare. We transfered the Leopard to our farm (Jobedi) to keep a close eye

on his progress. On the 24th May 2008 Sharin went to inspect the cat and realized that the

wounds had split open. We called in the vet, and the operation started on Saturday 24th May

2008 around 19:30 that evening where we had to shave the hair, clean out the wound, closed it

up, and also cut about 5cm's of its tail which was badly injured and septic.

Up to date we've been feeding the animal, monitoring his progress and administering anti biotics.

The wound has healed perfectly and he is ready to be released. In the interests of conservation

we would like to collar him and release him within in the next 3 weeks onto a section of Jobedi

Game Reserve so that he may find and establish a new territory on our farm and a section of our

neighbour farm.

For us to be able to release and track this animal to make sure that he will be safe we need to

buy a collar for R19 000.00. So far we've raised R12 000.00 and any amount (R100) will get us

closer to our goal. If you can help with R100.00 and friends with a R100.00 we will be able to get

our collar asap. We are planning to order our collar on Monday 14 July 2008 (delivery take 3

weeks) and release first week in August.

PLEASE if you forward this email to who you think will be able to help.
