I think the last time I saw a 'watersak' hanging outside on a vehicle was as a child on the farm in the Kalahari.  And here I saw it today at work in Pretoria!

Yes

And as you can see from the water marks on the tar that one also does not work. I tried all manner of this to get it to seal at least a bit but never managed to get it right. 30minutes or so and mine was empty. Never got the hang of it and eventually threw it away.

New bags must be treated with mieliemeel to seal reasonably well.

Well the leak that keep the bag wet on the outside is part of the cooling system.
But then ours on the farm got seeled over time by the salt and lime (kalk) in the water from the borehole.

Pre planning is all that's called for, it is supposed to be wet on the outside in order to cool the water while driving (semi permeable) ..... hang it outside under a tree, fill it up as needed....... within 10 days it's ready to work

Nothing beats Cool water with a hessian after taste, blends well with the LR oil/Petrol ambiance.

Sean, my father in law bought one for me, probably 10 to 12 years ago and I was disappointed coz I don't really have high opinion of the brand, and have always thought K'Archer was the appliance to go for.
I'll admit being wrong and the Bosch, besides a few scratches has been a Trojan. Its fallen over countless times, been dragged along the ground and generally manhandled. It doesn't leak, still pumps strong enough and has proved itself.
I have other K'Archer branded things and cannot say the same.  I've experienced the same as some recent press reports - poor build quality and no availability of replacement parts due to discontinuance.....

The Karcher domestic range have plastic pumps and the industrial ones have metal pumps, I have been told, a lot of the pumps also stop working and then there is a reset button inside on some of the models.

It is like Willard batteries, they were the best and lasted forever, but they did not sell enough, then consultant told them to make them weaker, so that they can get more sales. These days things are not made to last forever, someone told me Karcher are designed for only good for 70 hours of work.

Makro at one stage had stickers plastered all over the consumer type Karcher pressure cleaners stating its only for domestic diy use.

I have gone through 4 of them in 6 years, now replaced with a Ryobi with metal pump.

All the Karchers I had burst plastic pressure components.

That must be the case, but it also applies to Boach, Wap, AEG, etc.

As example, I recently learnt that Bosch colours their power tools either blue or green.  Green is the cheaper domestic range and blue is the industrial standard.

I'm not sure the average man on the street will know how to differentiate each of the brands.

Subject: [Overland] Watersak

I think the last time I saw a 'watersak' hanging outside on a vehicle was as a child on the farm in the Kalahari. And here I saw it today at work in Pretoria!

Just bought one. Nice condition.

Sucks petrol - Glugs, actually. LOL

Anyone got any unwanted P38 bits lying around that they don't want? If so, PM me please.

Thanks for all the tips and feedback on watersak.
To sum it up; put half of the watersak water in the Karcher with one koppie mieliemeel and shake it.  Then force it into the watersak with the Karcher to seal all the cavities in the watersak.  :-)

Other tip that I got on Facebook is to wet the new watersak thoroughly and fill it with water and hang it on the rear of the vehicle and drive a road with fine dust.  The dust and water will form a solid dry mud layer on the outside of the watersak to help seal it.
