Advise wanted: Renting a 4x4 and camping equipment in Johannesburg

Hello all,

For our next vacation we intend to fly to Joburg and rent a 4x4 with camping equipment for a four
week period (last week of May, first 3 weeks of June).
We are looking for a reliable vehicle at a reasonable price.

Are there rental companies that you can recommend?

I tried Bushlore once when I couldn't get a vehicle from Bushtrackers but
was very disapointed with the mechanical condition of the Bushlore vehicle
and personally I would not go back to them.

Hi Yovka,

Not the answer you asked for, but I suggest you also ensure the vehicle
you rent is suitable for the area and purpose you have in mind. We've
come across people who had walked 25km through the wilderness after
getting stranded in mud, amongst others because their rented vehicle was
fitted with sand tyres. When we then tried to recover it, it turned out
not to have recovery points or tow bar and not even a back bumper!
