From a non bias point of view, How would you guys rank the following ?  In no particular order.

a) Engel
b) National Luna
c) Snow Master
d) Camp Master

A friend on mine bought the snow master because of cost and there length of guarantee. I feel he made a critical error and should have waited for funds, to purchase a better brand. I'm an Engel fan, although my second choice is National Luna.

None of them, we have a 40l WAECO.

After 2 years the temperature sensor was replaced.

A added PC fan and a thermostat, to help cooling the compressor at temperatures above 35 degrees.

Worked fine in the 26 months we travelled southern Africa since September 2013.

I have 2 x 40l Engel fridges, bought via Bud when he was still young :)

No trouble what so ever - I replaced the lid seals last month as the old ones were starting to get a bit stiff.

In my camper I have an upright 85l Snowmaster freezer, which Snowmaster converted from 220VAC to 12VDC.  So far it's very impressive, and the compressor runs MUCH quieter than my Engel fridges, which I did not think were noisy.  My view that Snowmaster are inferior to Engels etc is waning.

Cheers
Mike

Had NL Engel Waeco, Indel and Snomaster. TBH all much of a muchness, other than the Indel which didn't last. TBH I liked the NL best , but bang for buck, I think the Snomaster wins

Have ...
1. Engel 40L (expensive, efficient, sturdy, good support). No problems in 5 years.
2. Indel 35L (not expensive, efficient, good support - National Luna). In 5 years had it re-gassed once and electronics fixed once, but still running well.
On trips I use the Indel as freezer and the Engel as fridge. On a 5 month trip through East Africa, they did not miss a beat.

Had ...
1. Snowmaster 40L (Cheap, efficient, bad support)
2. Snowmaster 20L (Cheap, not very efficient - worse than the 40L's, bad support - in Cape)
3. Snowmaster 40L (Was a replacement for the 20L, lost its gas very early and was never the same after it was fixed)
All now gone to heaven ...

Any body with a fridge body with a stuffed compressor that wants to let it go for some beer or wine or monetary adjustment?

I am looking for one or two please.

Fanie, I have an old Snowmaster available in Cape Town area (Somerset West).  Available for free, it is just taking up space.  Not sure about the size, but must be about 50l.  Cover and spare power supply (condition unknown) included.   As far as I know the compressor still works, there is some electronic/power problem that no-one seems to be able to fix.  Support/service from Snowmaster in Cape Town was close to non-existent, so I eventually gave up and purchased an Engel about 5 years ago.  I now have 1 Engel and 3 Waeco fridges in various vehicles (all trouble free), and will never consider a Snowmaster again.

I may well have one in a few days, Fanie. Just finding out what's wrong with it and then, most likely, replacing it.

I'll let you know.

Thanks, now to try and get a lift for them to Pretoria.

I sit with two danfoss compressors that I bought for a DIY project but work got in the way of constructing proper fridge boxes for them.

I may be able to play around trying to fit these in obsolete fridges to see if I can make them work instead of lying on a shelf.

I have all the gas, pipes etc to do the job.

Thanks
