The roads haven't been that fantastic in Hwange for the last few years, after Robins camp was refurbished they spread the bricks & hardcore along the road either side of camp. It had been ground down last year, I think the worst sections are where part of the old tarmac still exists. I always enter via Pandamatenga, I haven't found the roads any better or worse than that section. But this year I'm entering at Main camp from Vic Falls, staying at Silwani, Kapula & out via Pandamatenga. One one occasion customs even wanted to take eggs from us entering Botswana, I don't think I will be left with much for them to cease this time! As I'll be trying out the food at Senyati.
Safe travels
Graham

Alan ; just to let you know we were advised at matobo np that the road to
main camp hwange was very bad so that was the reason why we decided to drop
that completly came out of Zim and in again via Botswana to drive the +-
53km ?to hwange north section to robins camp ; the best we could have done
! We had a great quality time camping at robins camp and explored/ visited
most places around robins ( yes despite the agro Ellie's )....

Hi Joao
We are heading directly to Robins, and then on to Ngweshla. About 2 weeks
in total, then heading out again.
Why were the roads bad? - sandy/wet/bumpy?
Many thanks
Alan

We were told in Matopos and at the official parks office in bullowayo that
the road was full of pot holes and in very bad condition not good for the
vehicle and caravan; so we bought good meat in bulowayo and travel through
a good road to plumtree to botswana and entered pandamatenga and then
straight to Robbins camp.

Senyati food was rather forgettable when we visited last September. But the drinks at the bar overlooking the waterhole were good & very reasonably priced!

Better to go to Kasane supermarkets & buy whatever you need for a braii etc.
