Hi guys,

My Engel does not seem to get up to (minus) temperatures anymore. -9C with very little in the box  seems to be the max in a 25 C environment.

Does it perhaps need to be re-gassed?

I am leaving for the Richtersveld tomorrow, where it is a tat hot at this time of the year. Warm beers do not sound quite appealing to me.

Best regards,

Uli

Hi Uli

Is the working parts free of dust? From what I have heard a dirty "engine room" can cause them to be less efficient, and a compressed air clean out can help.

What size is it?

Cheers

Thanks for your reply, Jean.

It’s a 40 l and the “engine room” is clean :)

Cheers,

Uli

Hi Uli

Turning it upside down a few times sometimes gets a fart out of the system and improves the performance. Just take the beer out before you do so. Good luck

Now this sounds mightily interesting Douw, and I will try this right away :)
Does the motor need to run while doing so, or better to switch off?

Hi Uli

Leave the motor off and also wait for the gas to settle afterward before
switching it back on (not sure how long). This used to work really well
on the old gas fired fridges.

Cheers

I doubt this will work on an Engel. Was effective on the old three-way freezers... Not compressor driven freezers.

Uli - I personally won't take any half measures when it comes to repairing a freezer. Just a thought. Get it professionally checked out and repaired. It is too critical piece of kit.

Hi Hennie,

I left it a bit late for a professional service, as we are leaving in the morning.

However I vowed to let the Engel have a Service upon my return.

Best regards,

Uli

My brother in law recently had his engel fridge regassed in Luderitz for N$ 200. What about seeing the local fridge repair service in Springbok if you travel through that town.
