Good morning,
How do you guys clean your radiators from grass seeds when required?
God bless,

Og, had that dreadful task once.... took the grill off and used a plastic bristle brush from the kitchen utensils .... and threw it away afterwards.... THEN only fitted a piece of shade netting .....

I was to scared of the lighter and deodorant method.... I hate the smell of burning cars....

Cheers

Nee man, its even to scary to think about......

The "manne" between our boys recommend that you take the grill of to expose the seed clogged radiator. Then take your deodorant and spray at the seeds while lighting a flame below the spray... it will set the seeds alight and burn it off. Some may also use the gas flame to set the seeds on fire.......

Banggat greetings....

Use a can of deodorant like a blow-torch......

Fine if you don't mind scorch-marks on the car and if you have enough water on hand to stop the flames.

Theo:

I have been looking at this as well, but the biggest problem is that you can only clean the aircon rad – which is in front of the real rad, which is the one which really matters.

And I have a net in front of and wrapped around the bottom. It is amazing what gets through these things!

I have come to conclusion on this last trip, that the only way to do this correctly is to remove the main radiator, clean it out completely, and then fit a fine(ish) mesh over the front before re-installing it.

I’ve looked at some of the stuff from CIRRUS coolers – they make a virtually unplugable rad – catch – price. L

Me (sommer not looking forward to cleaning out the rad!)

I use a double net. One on the bull bar and the next one flush against the grill. My theory being that those that pass thru the first one will "wobble" and be blocked by the second one :)
BUT.... I'm always worried about the effect that has on the airflow/cooling, and keep strict watch the EGT and Water temp guages

Use a long piece of thick wire and an old wide paint brush on the end of that . Learned that trick in the Kgalagadi from the ranger that does the Nossob eco trail
You need to remove pieces of plastic forn the Disco and Defender radiator to get in properly.

Also grass gets in from beneath more than from the front so make sure the seed net you have covers the underside of the radiator properly

Yes, the gap underneath between the radiator and the fan cowling. I'd run shade net from the front to somewhere level with the axle line.

I once used someone's co'2 high compression bottle, and blasted them
all out. There are the kind that you can top up and fill, from an
ordinary tire pump at the fuel station. A bit bulky but does work.
