Does anyone know if one needs to book Hunters Rd Eco-trail to Kasane
starting from the South? If so what are the contact numbers, and is it
fairly safe being next to Zimbabwe. Are there any rules like
Mabuashehube, when you need to return at a certain time?

You do not need to book the Hunters Road. As this is not controlled by
anybody you do not need to report your start and end. Normally I would
say there are not too many crossing this border but these days?

The "eco-trail" is a misnomer.
Hunter's Road is the track that runs along the border between Bots and
Zim and can be driven by anyone, anytime. It is not owned by anybody.
The road is quite safe, but in the wet season becomes impassable in
places because of the black cotton soil mud.
There are some awesome spots to bushcamp along the road - read the trip
reports on the Overland Forum.

everything you need is on the T4A map (http://www.tracks4africa.com)
Botswana map. Not expensive and every Rand worth
