I know this is a basically abandoned user group but I figured I'd try. I'm been writing two different texts: one is a FAQ game guide designed to replace the manuals and to go into much greater depth than the original manuals ever did, and the second is a speed running guide for the game. The FAQ is 75% done with only one major section (chip design strategy) and formatting to complete. While the speedrunning guide is still being info gathered as I learn to play better. What I'm looking for is if anyone is interested in helping me with proofreading and editing of the FAQ. I want someone who knows the game well to be able to read it and give feedback. It's my first FAQ and it's seems like a very large amount of text to keep strait and just looking for another set of eyes. I know this is probably a long shot but reply if anyone might still be out there.

Hello Nanomano,

I still play Carnage Heart and would love to do some proofreading/editing on anything you've got.  If the FAQ is rather large consider deploying it in a tidlywiki or twine story.  Id be happy to host it on oke-doke.com I'm OkeDoke#9453 on discord.  Let's collaborate.

I send you a friend request on discord, currently I've been writing it on my google drive with the eventual plan of making it for gamefaq, but I'd like to make a better version with images for chip designs. Ascii has it's limits there and it's been a pain to write this part. Ive looked everywhere for any previous information and there isn't a lot. There isn't a faq or a guide for the game at all anywhere and it makes me sad. It's a complicated game to just dive into and it would be helpful if anyone ever wanted to play it to have a real guide. I also wanted to see how deep into the game I could get, Been a lot of work so far but been fun. The game has so many hidden mechanics at play the original manuals never mentioned either. I'm not trying to write a playthrough guide either, I feel that takes the fun of the game away. No fun to just give a good chip design and tell them all the steps to win each map. I've spent a lot of time routing the game for some speedrun attempts and man has that been hard and complicated. But I've learned a lot about the deeper mechanics. So get at me and lets compare notes.

Hello OKE fans,
Although I still own Carnage Heart, I am not playing it any longer. However there is a new game on the market that will scratch our itch to create intelligent self driven killing machines. The game is called Gladiabots and is available via download for PC. I have not purchased it yet but have watched a few tutorials on YouTube. It looks like a new better and more versatile version of Carnage Heart.

Enjoy

I have actually seen that game but I haven't not played it yet. It's on my list for sure. I'm still on my mission to finish my goals with this game before I switch to another game though. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have since bought and played the new game. It is somewhat less dynamic than CH in that there is no jumping or melee action and the distance checks are restricted to 360 degrees, but it is well done and entertaining.

Well, here is the link for the current status FAQ. Feel free to give any sort of feedback that you may want. I'm welcome to criticism.

Nice work. That took a lot pf time and dedication.

There are some spelling and grammar errors, but it is definitely readable.

Oh no doubt a lot, I haven't even finished all the sections so I haven't bothered to do much cleaning. There is a lot of strategy stuff still in a different file and all the item stats. It's summer time so not inside much to work on this but I still am going to finish it. I've tracked down every bit of information I can find anywhere except Japanese forums which I really don't know how to navigate. I've also downloaded every OKE file I could find and played with all of them. Been fun to see the different strats.

It is such a great game hopefully someday someone will give it a reboot.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the FAQ for? Just curious is all!
I have Gladiabots on Android, Its OK, nowhere near as enjoyable as Carnage Heart though. To much going in & out of those menu bubbles.
Is there a link to those old files still around (one of them may have one of my old Oke's in it), including the game ones?

Cheers,

Mark, Soupseed,  or whatever I was calling myself back then.

Well, oddly I wanted to play it again after owning it when it came out and I had a rom, but forgot how to play. So I went to game FAQ and there was not one. Which is crazy. So I figured I would write it. Also I plan on speed running the game and it's all part of the deal, gotta break it way down to do that. Get to the deep end of the strats, build them all, and set some times.

XEBRA isn't specific to Carnage Heart. It's a PS1 emulator. Most of those should work with the game.
