I translated CH:EZ with a hex editor because I hate playing with FAQs. Translated everything except some of the campaign text.
Unfortunately I cannot provide binaries as they are copyrighted material, nor an xdelta patch at this time.
If you would like more information send me a message/search the internet for the translation.
In the event you do send me a message, make sure the subject contains Carnage Heart, or I probably won't see it.
Carnage Heart EZ: Easy Zapping Partial Translation v1.0 by Magitek
==================================================================
I have always been interested in the carnage heart series, but was put off by several things in the original Carnage Heart.
CH:EZ remedies the majority of the problems with the original and improves nearly every aspect of the game,
adds several new challenge modes, proper tournament play for multiplayer and even mouse support!
EZ was widely regarded in Japan as the superior CH game for quite some time.
I believe CH:EZ was also the last Carnage Heart to feature tactical play, newer versions disappointly opting for pure arena battling.
Unfortunately this expansion never reached english shores and players were left with the inferior version, CH went unnoticed
for a considerable amount of time since the original release.
This translation was hex-edited by hand, with no knowledge of written japanese or psx reverse-engineering.
It took roughly a week to complete, thanks to CH:EZ have little to no compression or encryption.
Hope you enjoy perfecting and experimenting with these OKE robots!
With everything said about CH:EZ, keep an eye out for Natsume's upcoming PSP/Vita translation of Carnage Heart: EXA coming in mid 2013.
Untranslated texts
------------------
A few rare or obvious messages, hopefully nothing related to the OKE software side of CH.
Most storyline messages. I was simply not proficient enough with japanese to translate them, sorry. You aren't missing much here fortunately!
The main help file. If you need instructions, I recommend scouring the internet for an FAQ or reading CH1's help file.
Notes
-----
I've amended several definitions made by the original US translation, in favor of more literal translation.
Keep this in mind if you have played the original US version of CH as you may find OKEs and several parts named differently.
My translation of CH:EZ is not perfect, but should be bug and problem free. Tested using ePSXe.
For those of you that are emulating the game from a PC and using ePSXe, you can activate mouse support by:
Config -> Gamepad -> Port 1 -> Pad 1 -> change digital controller to Mouse/Digital.
Press F5 in-game to activate the master-race mouse control scheme.
Enjoy!
Map editing
------------
In my time spent translating CH:EZ I looked at editing the map files and discovered it was quite possible to alter the campaign maps.
I was considering making a nightmarishly hard campaign but I decided to actually spend some time playing CH:EZ instead.
I'm not sure anyone will make use of this but I've included some of the data I found here.
Editing map files in the S_MAP directory with a hex-editor is easy provided you keep in mind that the tiles are
arranged horizontally, but are hexagon shaped:
hex block:
01 02 03 04
in-game map:
1-3-
-2-4
Each map file is already at maximum size, so expanding the map in-game is just a matter of changing surrounding
zeros to something else.
