Take a lesson from dirty politics. If you are working in a tough business environment, consider that a competitor could buy a domain name similar to your name (personal or business name) and use it to malign your brand.
Don't be an opportunist and play politics of convenience. 'Playing politics' and wielding influence in a political environment aren't really the same say Linda Hill and Kent Lineback. Power corrupts but powerlessness equally frustrates a leader. A suave and effective leader should not be a politician but certainly cannot afford to be apolitical in the political eco-system of the enterprise.

It will be apparent from all this that the dirty hands problem needsinitially some conceptual clarification; this should proceed with aview to five issues. First, there is the question whether the dirtyhands scenario makes any sense at all; perhaps it is just a muddle.Second, there is the related question whether the overriding thatdirty hands involve (or purport to involve) takes place withinmorality or somehow beyond it. Third, there is the question whetherdirty hands are necessitated only or primarily by politics. Fourth,how are the circumstances that call for dirty hands best described?Fifth, there is the issue of the relation of the dirty hands problemto that of moral dilemmas and the requirements of some form of moralabsolutism.
From the opposite direction the problem can also be resolved by thedenial that the hands should become dirty. An insistence on theinviolability of some moral prescriptions makes the paradox disappearas neatly as the Nielson manoeuvre. If we hold to the prohibition onintentionally killing the innocent, for example, in the face of criseslike that supposed by Walzer to necessitate the bombing of Germancities in the early phase of World War II, then there are no dirtyhands to have. Such a position is often called absolutist. Absolutistpositions have been explicitly held by many philosophers, notablyAugustine, Aquinas, and Kant, and implicitly perhaps by many more. Theposition involves complexities that we will examine later.
Both these responses agree in holding that moral reasons rightlydominate all others. Another way of defusing the strong appearance ofcontradiction is to hold that morality is not the only legitimatedeterminant of right action and that some other determinant mayoccasionally properly trump it. This provides one answer to the secondpoint of clarification mentioned earlier. Dirty hands problems do notarise within morality but rather when morality clashes withsome other rational necessity of a profound kind that correctlyoverrules it.[2] The overruling must inspire regret, possibly remorse, but it isnonetheless clear that the overruling is in order, indeed required.Here, it is important to acknowledge that the overruling in questionis not merely a description of what often happens. It is commonknowledge that the demands of morality are often enough overridden byother persuasive demands, such as imperatives of self-interest,careerism, political advantage and friendship. It may even be thatpolitics is an arena in which such overpowering happens more commonlythan elsewhere, so that participation in it is fraught with moralhazard that requires an exceptional moral character to overcome.Nonetheless, the importance and challenge of the dirty hands scenariois not that hands get dirty from time to time, but that it is rightthat they do so.
In recent years, citizens have been taking their governments to court to hold them accountable for failing to take sufficient measures to meet their own climate commitments.
