Myinsurance company is sending me documents & billing notices that require I enter a password to view them. Obviously, I know the password, but it's time consuming to use it each time. Is there a way to remove the password requirement on Reader DC for documents that are sent to me?

If you know the password, and have access to Acrobat, then you should be able to remove the password security. Just choose File > Properties after you open the PDF, and click the Security tab in the Properties dialog box to change the security settings. Unfortunately, this isn't something that you can do in Reader.

I'm having the same issues in Reader. it says it has an open password or a modify a password. I've wasted an hour trying to print a bank statement I have printed off a 100 times in the past. why is this an issue today!

To remove the password you must go to File > Properties, click the Security tab and change the security method to None. Enter the password when asked. Now save the file and close it. Notice where you save it, choose a directory! Now the password is gone.

Adding password protection to PDF documents is crucial for protecting sensitive information. It prevents unauthorized access, ensuring confidentiality and privacy. It acts as a reliable defense against unauthorized sharing, tampering, or theft of valuable data, both personally and professionally.

However, removing a password from a PDF document may be necessary when sharing the file with others or uploading it to a platform such as Banner Document Management. It allows for easier sharing and accessibility. However, you should ensure the document is being shared in a secure and trusted environment to prevent unauthorized access.

If you have a PDF that contains private, confidential, or proprietary information, the creator might have tried to safeguard the document by adding a password. You'll need to enter that password every time you open the doc, which is usually not a big deal unless you find yourself doing that frequently. If you can keep the document safe and secure, you might want to remove the password from the PDF file instead.

If you don't have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro, you can still easily remove the password. The only downside of this process is that you'll lose access to some special features of your PDF, such as the ability to select and manipulate the text in the document.
