Iordered an external USB wifi adapter for my iBook and i needs configured the when i go to install the driver that came with the adapter it says "1. Select System Preferences from the system menu, 2. Select and launch the Network item in the System Preference folder, 3. From the Configure list, select the current adapter and configure it, 4. Configure the settings, 5. Click the Save button, then you can connect to the WLAN, i don't think macOS 10.4 has a configure list and i don't know if the airport card is supposed to be in the computer for the USB wifi adapter to work.

Information about the exact USB Wi-Fi adapter model/type would be of interest. Generally speaking though, treat the USB adapter as an independent network device. In order to avoid any confusion, it may be a good idea to remove the AirPort card in a case like this.

I found the serial number the serial number is 00e04c000001 the model number is not on the box it came in but theres a sticker on the box the number is X001CYIACJ if that isn't the model number i can't find it i looked on the box and in the driver software.

No manufacturer mentioned? If not, probably a generic USB adapter using an RTL8811AU WLAN network controller. The interesting part here is the driver software. When choosing a USB Wi-Fi adapter, it is important to know whether the driver software supports the Mac OS X version in question. Is there anything on the box, or on a CD, confirming that the supplied software can be used with Mac OS X 10.4.x?

Yes it works with macOS 10.4 - 10.12 the manufacture is usbnovel i can't call them because they don't offer support in the united states it is a company in china i tried looking on there website for more detailed instructions.

A USB Wi-Fi device may appear as an alternative "Ethernet" adapter. If you launch System Preferences and click on Network (under Internet & Network), anything new (normally, one would find Built-in Ethernet, etc here)? If so, what happens if you choose that new entry?

I've installed the official ChromeOS Flex, and it works fine (the HP T620 is on the list of certified things). The problem is that my HP T620 lacks an internal wifi card, and it seems that there is no list of USB wifi adapters that work. I've tried three of them on my box, with mixed results.

- An unbranded chinese adapter: Based on Realtek 8176 chipset, with a very big antenna. It doesn't work. Looking into dmesg, there is a message that says that the driver is a "staging" one... maybe it's not fully loading?

- A "nano" adapter: Based on Realtek 8192 chipset. It works, but being a "nano" thing (it only sticks out about 3 or 4 mm) the antenna is not good and the connection is unstable (unless you're very near to the AP).

- A TP-Link TL-722 (newer variant): Also based on Realtek 8192, with big antenna... but for some strange reason refuses to work. TP-Link changed the USB IDs to reflect their brand, so maybe they did other changes that prevent it from working (the adapter works fine on Windows laptops).

Currently, there has a beta driver for Mac 10.15 on Github which is available for Realtek network adapter according to our test, please have a try to install it temporarily until the official TP-Link driver released: -USB-Adapter-Clover

Hi all, we TP-Link have released the driver for MAC10.15 for Realtek wireless adapter. We have uploaded it to the official website already. For others, our R&D team are working on it and will update graudually.

The driver attached is suitable for TL-WN725N as we tested, for others, you can install it; but if it does not work, you can try to search the driver online from Github or the manufacturer's official website with the chipset.

I checked in the product box, its mentioned version 3.0, however I dont see anything etched on the adapter. The driver u have mentioned attached, r u referring to the github chris1111 wifi adapter ? that's not working for me.
