Ican fix it by using the gpuDX11old video plugin, but from what I have heard, the new is better. I can also fix this by playing the game in 16:9, but I prefer to play it in 4:3 and not have it stretched out. It also happens if I use alt+enter to manually make the game fullscreen.

I have the exact same problem. Trouble is when I use the gpuDX11old video plugin I get weird grapical glitches. I've just tried Redream emulator tonight. Works straight the box, no setting up and works flawlessy with Launchbox. There's a 4K version too. Check it out. ?

I'm not sure what to tell you to be honest, im going to assume you know where you installed Demul. it should just be in there. Then just right click on demul.exe, select properties, go to the compatibility tab and select "Disable fullscreen optimizations" then hit apply.

Yeah I can get it to launch the dreamcast ones no problem it's the Atomiswave ones and other arcade titles I am having trouble with. That tutorial shows me the dreamcast launch options I was already using for the other demul folder. He says they would cover those games in a future tutorial but I couldn't find it on youtube.

For the arcade stuff in Launchbox you will want to create a 2nd instance of your Demul emulator called something like Demul Arcade for example. You can still use the same Demul install and setup, just create a 2nd instance of it in LB.

Launchbox points to the Demul.exe, whih is located as noted above. The only items checked are "No space before ROM (primarily for nullDLC)" and "Use file name only without file extension or folder path (Sega Model 2 Emulator, etc. compatibility)".

For me Naomi 2 works fine from LaunchBox. If you like I can walk you through my setup because using bat files for this, you bring a lot of troubles on yourself. Exiting Demul, startup/shutdown screens and pause screens won't work as easily. For Demul arcade emulation make sure you have roms from a Mame romset as Demul uses that naming scheme and does a check on the included roms in a .zip. Also make sure you have the appropriate bioses.

2. In LaunchBox add a "Demul Emulator" with the checkboxes "Remove file extension and folder path" and "Remove space before ROM" ticked. If you emulate multiple systems with Demul leave the "Default Command-Line Parameters" field empty. Else (in this case) put in: -run=naomi -rom=

If you emulate multiple systems with Demul, go to the "Associated Platforms" tab. Enter your platform name *exactly* as you have named it in LaunchBox. With the appropriate command-line parameters, in this case: -run=naomi -rom=

Is there a way to make this portable? I would like to make my arcade setup on a T5 SSD and the drive wont always be assigned the same letter so the bios paths for demul wont be the same every time. Or is there a different route I should take?

If there is nothing in Roms and Bioses Paths, create the folder "roms" in the Demul folder and click Add. Navigate to the roms folder in the window that pops up and click on OK. Once done, close Plugins and Paths.

Thanks a lot for this. I looked at Demul briefly some time ago, couldn't get it working properly, then forgot about it due to being too busy to troubleshoot it. I'll be sure to give these settings a try when I have time!

While your guide is appreciated, honestly the best solution to get good speed but more importantly Correct emulation by leaving autosort on and using the DX11 gpu plugin, is to get a video card from the specs of about a GTX 650Ti and up, which does the trick for my cab with all Demul arcade titles.

Iirc auto sort affects ALOT more games than you listed, I went through every Atomiswave and Naomi game for cab, and it really needs to be enabled. It's just slow because the emu is just a mess IMO and really unbalanced/unoptimized.

I agree with tnrz, dx11 is usually faster. Dx11 is usually faster than dx10 even in windows games. Moreover disabling opaque modifier and translucent modifier will make 3d graphic worse. This emulator really likes hi-end videocards, demul is the only emulator to got a speed bump when i upgraded from 9800gtx+ to 660gtx.

Well, I have a gtx 770 oc'ed and have an oc'ed 4.5 ghz i5 4670k and I cannot upscale past 2x without lag on Sonic Adventure for DC. So that should show you what you are up against. Meanwhile my CPU power is only around 15-20%.

The most demanding game I have encountered on my arcade cabinet is Wild Riders, which is Naomi 2. There is not a single arcade rom on my htpc so I have not thrown that game at my 770. But like I said, even a 780 ti would probably get stutter if trying to go above 2x. It once again boils down to poor optimization.

Dark13, yea I know what happened to that x64 build that was supposed to come out? So much for that. But ya know the Demul devs just do as they please, because they have everyone by the balls because it's closed source. Alls they do all year is post pictures of new games they get to boot, but how about fixing game breaking bugs that have been in the emu for YEARS like the music stopping problem in Dolphin Blue, or the game crash in Initial D?

I would recommend the Atomiswave to Naomi conversions (done by Breaking CPS3, Google is your friend) for playing Dolphin Blue. I know this fix causes lots of bugs, but otherwise for most of us who have less-high-end systems, it should load most games with a good deal of speed. Whatever works for you may be quite different from this, but, for me, this is what works the fastest.

If your specs are higher, the DX11 plugin may be a good choice. Personally, on mine, which is built for DX10, it just runs slower, but, if you have a high-class Alienware, Origin, or a custom gaming tower, you may want to try DX11. That mainly has to do for what your graphics card is made to do. It mainly is what works for you.

Most of the settings in the first post produced mixed results. I found better results with the DX11 plugin, without disabling Auto Sort; Disable Opaque Modifier; and Translucent Modifier. As this machine is lower spec'ed than my laptop and is going to eventually wind up in a cab or a dedicated machine for arcade gaming, this leads me to suspect that Demul is very peculiar with it's setup. I tried running Makaron on my laptop with worse results than Demul. I suspect Makaron may run better on this dedicated machine. Weird.

Some games require both guns to be calibrated, If you only have one gun, assign your gun to player 1 and player 2 in Demulshooter. Once you have calibrated remove the gun from P2 in demulshooter.

If you have issues with offscreen reloading in games like Sports shooting USA make sure you are using the latest Demul version (DEmul v0.7 280418) older versions have broken reload mechanics.

To calibrate the guns you have to enter the test menu with F4 and press F2 to cycle the selection, You need to go into the bottom "game test" menu to get access to the second test menu for the game where you can then calibrate them the same as Atomiswave games.

3 of the Naomi light gun games (Maze of kings, Confidential Mission and Lupin The Third: The Shooting) require CHD files, You can use the normal MAME CHD's and these must be put in folders matching the rom name inside the ROMS folder.
