Dear Colleagues
We received a call for help from GS, Rev Juro for Rev Matanga who is currently admitted at the RCZ University, in his 2nd year of a 4 year Bachelor of Theology degree. Rev Matanga (Rev for Chegutu congregation) can no longer afford the fees and therefore is on the verge of withdrawing from college.
Rev Juro approached us as the Outreach Team, since we have worked with him for a long time, since he was at Jichidza Mission. He did so in his capacity as the General Secretary, having received the SOS from the said Rev.
The fees are $365 per semester. The total fees he needs amount to $1,460 for the 4 semesters remaining to completion.
This communication is a request for opinion and a decision on whether the Team is in a position to assist him and for how much?
I look forward to hearing from you as quickly as possible for the Committee to send word to Rev Juro on any decision we would have come up with.

The total fees outstanding amounts to $2920.00, but the church pays
for the other half. This is universal to all pastors who have joined
the Bachelor of Theology degree with RCU. The church will meet half
the tuition fees.
Reverend Matanga's situation has been sad to say the least. His
congregation has not been remitting monies to the Central Office, so
he hasnt been paid salaries for the past three years. The year 2011
and part of 2012 his children were sent to school by Highfield
presbytery after they dropped out.
At the moment things are not so rosy. Just for your information
brethren. Stay Blessed. Thanks for the responses they are very
helpful. We will get in touch with the GS for official
correspondences.

This then reminds me of Gasseler’s contribution, that we may need to have a long-term plan and budget for assistance of the Pastors’ education needs at RCU. This can come in form of a specific amount that we pledge, which the GS can request for as the need arises.
I suggest that meanwhile we pay for Rev Mhuriyengwe’s immediate fees and then continue to brainstorm on how we can have a long-term relationship with RCU, with regards Revs fees.
The bottom-line is most of these Pastors sponsor themselves albeit on meager resources. We don’t pay them enough, worse so for some who only get paid after their congregations have met their budgets with Synod.
