((Shopping Parade ; Outpost Eden))
: Katie looked on as the Romulan terrorist began to become disorientated
as the paralysing gas took hold. Fortunately for Katie and the other
Starfleeters, they were all in biosuits due to the disease outbreak. The
few civilians, including the young woman held hostage by Ventok, were
not so lucky.:
Ventok: Hey! What's happening?!
: Katie and Sterek looked at the Romulan.:
Sterek: Are you unwell, sir? It is possible that you may be affected by
the pathogen I mentioned before.
: The Vulcan officer then concluded his *chat* with Commander Velana.
Katie and the others kept watch on the panicking Romulan.:
Sterek: ^ I understand, Commander, but we have no other option at this
juncture. We will also require an emergency medical transport of
Lieutenant Burner, and-^
Ventok: What have you done?
: The hostage started to struggle in Ventok's arms, evidently feeling
the effects of the gas as well; her hands and feet had gone rigid. The
Romulan went to release the trigger, planning on blowing the young woman
to pieces.:
Burner: NO!
: Fortunately, the gas had already done its work and the man’s hand were
rigid, like in rigamortis. Calmly, Sterek tapped his commbadge again.:
Sterek: ^ Commander Velana, please amend my previous request. We require
several emergency medical teams on the promenade and a negotiation team
will not be necessary. Please also inform sickbay that they may cease
the filtration of paralytic gas into the area. ^
Velana: ^?^
: Sterek strode over to the rapidly-stiffening Romulan and slipped his
arm around the man's shoulders to hold him up as his muscles started to
seize. He indicated for KeH'Gan and Virax to do the same with the
confused-looking civilian woman.:
KeH'Gan: : whispering : Virax get ready to advance on my signal.
Virax: Very Good Ensign I am ready
: Sterek then pushed down on Ventok’s hand. The Romulan grimaced as his
thumb pushed down on the detonator button to keep it fixed in place.
Sterek then pried the object from Ventok's grasp. Ventok growled in pain
as his fingers snapped from the force. He couldn’t scream as his jaws
were rigid too.:
Ventok: Grrrrrrrr!
KeH'Gan: VIRAX..NOW
: Both men then made their move as Sterek dealt with Ventok. KeH'Gan
grabbed the girl as she was released from Ventok’s hold. Katie saw the
Klingon gently lay her on the floor as Virax moved in to help Sterek.
Burrner: : cough: Well … done team!
Sterek: I will require assistance with securing this hostile before the
paralysis wears off - Ensign KeH'Gan, could you please secure the
detonator button with some of the tape on my utility belt?
KeH'Gan: Aye Sir!
: KeH'Gan took the restraints from Sterek and secured Ventok's hands and
the switch as the Romulan growled and squirmed, as much as his frozen
muscles would allow. With a free hand, Sterek tapped his comm badge.:
Sterek: ^Sterek to engineering. Requesting immediate deployment of
explosive defusal teams to the Civilian Promenade; we have twenty active
devices currently unaccounted for.^
Cartwright: ^?^
: Katie joined in the conversation.:
Burner: ^ Ensign Cartwright, it’s Lieutenant Burner here. We could do
with you here too. There quite a lot of damage and I hope you can help
us secure the systems. There is a dangerous pathogen potentially in the
air, and a working ventilation system will help with that and the smoke
from the bombs. Advise you were a hazardous materials suit too.^
Cartwright: ^?^
Burner: ^Great, see you soon. Burner out!^
: With the Commander updated, the gas being vented and the engineering
team on their way, the Security Team could now turn back to their two
Romulan captives, as well as attending to the freed hostage… and sadly,
the two dead civilians.:
Burner: Let’s get these two fellons to the brig.
: Virax helped Ensign KeH'Gan in securing Ventok, so he could be carried
away and locked up with Taris Sul.:
KeH'Gan: Thank you, Mr. Virax.
: Katie puffed out her cheeks, and sat on a chair. This had been an
unexpectedly busy day. She wasn’t enjoying it neither, not helped by her
tickly cough.:
Burner: Well done Ensign Sterek.
Sterek: ??
Burner: Thanks Mr KeH’Gan, Mr Virax.
KeH’Gan / Virax: ??
: The young woman hostage was coming to her senses, and was flexible
enough to take a sip of water. She would need to go to sickbay not just
because of the trauma, but also to get checked out for pathogen. Virax
took Ventok off to the brig, and not long after, Ensign Cartwright and
the engineering team arrived.:
Burner: You must be Cartwright?
Cartwright: ??
: Katie smiled.:
Burner: Ok everyone, we need to check for these explosives. Use all
scanners and tricorders, but for goodness sake be careful. They may be
booby trapped.
Cartwright / Sterek / KeH’Gan / Anyone: ???
Burner: I’m fine. I can sort my coughing out AFTER we defuse the bombs.
: The team began to search the corridors and panels for any unusual
signals. Eventually a strong signal was coming from a small locked
door.:
Burner: Here! I’m getting… : cough : a reading…
Cartwright / Sterek / KeH’Gan / Anyone: ???
: They worked to carefully remove the panel. They managed to do this
safely and then they peered inside. There was a small room, with very
little light. Katie saw a flashing device on the floor, that was
emitting the reading. She gasped when she saw someone sitting, bound,
next to it.:
Burner: Ensign Scott??? I thought you were…
Scott: ??
Cartwright / Sterek / KeH’Gan / Anyone: ???
: The lights on the device pulsed faster.:
Burner: Don’t worry, we can… : cough : sort this.
: Katie looked over her shoulder to the others.:
Burner: Right?
Cartwright / Sterek / KeH’Gan / Anyone: ???
: They clambered inside.:
