RocketLeague just updated on my Nintendo Switch, and now we can't play 2 player split screen. When we try, it says both players need to be level 20. Or it says all players need to log in.

We have a family Nintendo account. I tried creating a new user, but when I try to play with that user, it asks me if I want to link to a Nintendo account. If I try to link it, it says the switch is already linked to an account. If I cancel the link message, it take me in, but I can't play online. It says I have to log in first.

This just started yesterday (2/7/24) after an updated.

Has anyone else seen this, and is there a way around it so we can play two player split screen?

There was a time in the past year or two, where split screen (switch) got removed with an update, and psyonix was aware of the issue. They fixed it and brought it back with a future update 1-3+ months later (I forget how long it was).

When you start a new switch user profile game (save file) for Rocket League, I recall you could skip linking to a nintendo account, even though prompts weren't offering the option. You just had to keep hitting B to back out or skip it, I think. (unless something has changed).

After you hit 'create match', a "Choose Team" screen opens. On that page, sync the player two controller to the switch. You'll get a prompt wanting you to select a switch user profile, pick a different switch user than player 1.

If it didn't work, then maybe that second switch user profile does need to be linked to a nintendo account, and or needs to have hit xp level 20. My #2 switch user profile is linked to a nintendo account & I've already played Rocket League with that user profile over the past few years. When I select Profile(on rocket league menu), and then avatar borders, it does have avatar border rewards up to xp level 50. So, I believe that means that profile has gotten past xp level 20.

@WoomyNNYes, I appreciate you help with this. I restarted the switch but still same issue. My understanding is that you can only link one user profile to an account. So I have one user profile linked. We used to be able to play completive matches by using the one user profiled linked to an account, and another user profile where we just hit cancel every time it asked us to link to an account. That no longer works. Now, if I log in with the user profile that is not linked, it only have the option to play offline. So I can't play Casual or Competitive. When I try, all the options say "Unavailable" and at the bottom, in red, it says "NOT LOGGED IN. PLEASE LOG IN TO ACCOUNT AND TRY AGAIN."

So, it looks like, after the update, you can only play with a logged in account. And you can only have one logged in account on a switch. Which means there is only one user profile on the switch that can play Rocket League.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to log in with the 2nd user profile without messing up the one that is working?

@SideShow I've had two nintendo accounts/switch users for Splatoon 2 since 2018-ish. Later I used that second switch user/nintendo account for a second Rocket League account. So, you should be able to have a second rocket league account on a switch. I just checked to see if my second rocket league account worked since the update, and it did.

Maybe what you need is to be linked to an Epic Games account for your second player. The nice thing is, when you go to create a second Epic Games account from within the Rocket League game (I think that's how I did it), it will let you create an account by signing in with an existing nintendo account user & PW. (so you dont' need to invent a new user & PW for Epic Games)

so it seems like every time I try to play in multi-player mode, whether it's online or local, there's ALWAYS an issue with Player 1 not being able to make sharp turns without smashing into the wall or flying off the map. my friends and I tested this and we've come to the conclusion that it's just an issue with Player 1 for some reason and not the other players. we've also determined that it has nothing to do with any of my joycons because we tested multiple joycons with the same results.

There's a smart steering mode which is supposed to help you avoid falling off the edges, and for some reason it's turned on by default for everyone except player 1 in multiplayer. Could the issue be that player 1 in your game is oversteering because they're used to smart steering? You can turn it on or off by pressing + on the kart selection screen then pressing L.

@sadleafhours To bolster what Dogirilla said above, if you've ruled out the controller, then the Smart Steering or Tilt Control setting is likely the issue. You can toggle them on/off in the pause menu, or when you display kart stats on the kart/wheels/glider selecting page. Press (+) on the kart/wheels/glider selecting page to display stats and the smart steering toggle.

If you emulate games, your game saves are on a separate file on your emulation machine. But when you use the real cartridges on the Gameboy Player, you will have the save game saves whether you play them on the console or your portable.

My only complaint is that it can be a little tedious to eject and swap carts when I want to play something else. In most cases, it requires you to pick up the Cube and such. Not as easy as swapping Cube games. The cool thing is that you can take out the boot disc and put in a normal GC game without having to eject the GBA cart.

just wanted to mention that the player supports progressive scan mode.since I made a vga cable for my cube I got in the habit of testing games to see if they support it.I was very surprised to see the GBA player supported it.

Why would someone want to pay $150 for the EON device for Gamecube when you can pay $100 for the same thing from that Zelda XPro guy? It does not come in a pretty 3D shell and a fancy box, but the hardware is the same.

The internals of it are a publicly released open source project that both builders have exploited to make some money and get it out there for those who can not make their own. When reviewing the device you said, you basically already reviewed the cheaper uglier option that comes in a zip bag with an hdmi cable and paper instructions at a lower price.

Switch players got the short end of the stick regarding cross-trading.

We cannot trade platinum with other platforms. This is a big issue because the trade chat is flooded with buyers or sellers from other platforms that we cannot trade with. I know we can still trade items for items, but the main issue here is that it's now so much more difficult for Switch players to earn platinum.

My suggestion is to add a separate trading tab that is exclusive to the console, filtering other platforms so that only posts from Switch players are visible. This would allow Switch players to connect with others that they can actually trade platinum with, instead of having to deal with the main trade tab which is saturated with the other platforms

Hi Storm, so... the number of Switch players in WF is only a small percentage. The number of Switch players who activated cross-save is even less. The number of Switch players who chose Switch as their primary account and are Switch console only even less than that. And, and out of those, the number discussing in forum even less than that. Meaning that if I don't discuss with you, you will have no one to discuss with, LOL.

I just scrolled through all the accounts in trade chat just now, and there are only 3 (three!!) other cross-save activated Switch accounts in trade right now. Even if you had the filter, you would find the chance that one of these other few cross-save Switch accounts are wanting to trade for what you have (and vice versa) is next to zero. (As a separate side note, it was mentioned in a separate post that you could set filters for "Switch" or "Nintendo" using the trade chat search function, but I tested that right now, and, unfortunately, it does not work.)

As far as I can tell, the separation of cross-save Switch accounts and non-cross-save Switch accounts on the WF side is a systematic issue. (Others have mentioned that the separation of Switch platinum from PC and other console platinum is a corporate to corporate issue.) It going to take more than "a flip of of a switch" to solve this one (no pun intended). For 2024, one of the big focuses is going to be adding mobile players, which if this game follows the pattern of many other PC to mobile ports, will have millions of downloads in a matter of months. For Switch players, it means the percentage of the player base they occupy is going to decrease. I am suspecting that resolution of this issue is going to come sooner for PC and non-Switch consoles as well as mobile players, before it comes to Switch.

Anyhow, if you are Switch player and a trader and your main account is going to be Switch, it's probably best in most cases to hold on activating cross save for now. There will be a number of Switch players who will move on to cross-save during this upcoming year and moving forward which could stunt the trading even on the non-cross save side. I hope DE Team can consider this and possible think of a solution or even mitigation strategy.

A couple of us on the forums are dealing with the issue of only being able to link and not merge our accounts and in our tickets they told us to come to the forums to discuss about it; when we discuss about it our topics get either locked or completely taken down lol. I would not expect them to help you in a rollback as they just don't care and want to basically silence us, but either way good luck, just wanted to notify you of how they are handling cross save/merge/link problems.
