Hi,

We've encountered some problems recently with a third-party tool we use to import costs from Outbrain (Funnel).

We've been experiencing delays in cost imports as our Outbrain API limit has been reached.

I'm trying to figure out what has caused the increase in Outbrain API requests, as this is a new issue that hasn't happened before.

Is there a way of seeing API requests on the platform so I can identify where this increase is coming from?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Calum,

Thanks for reaching out to us with your question.

Unfortunately, we cannot track API requests, so we are unable to determine why your usage increased to the point of reaching the rate limit. It may be beneficial to reach out to Funnel to ask if they have this feature on their platform as they are the ones performing the requests.

The causes of rate limits being exceeded are listed here in our documenation and are as follows -
  • Authentication requests to obtain token (/login) limited to 2 requests per hour per user.
  • Usage of a single token limited to 30 requests per second for the entire API.
  • Each marketer is limited to 30 requests per minute for the entire performance reporting API (see Reports rate limits).
  • Each marketer is limited to 50 requests per minute for the entire realtime performance reporting API (see Realtime reports rate limits).

Therefore, it is most likely that the platform is performing more requests for data than previously which is now reaching our limit. To resolve this issue, requests should be combined if possible or less data should be requested within quick succession.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

All the best,
Danielle
