Hi,

I am having a recurring issue with your API rate limit.

Currently, I use Datorama (Salesforce) to pull data from our accounts. We are an advertising agency with a large number of accounts, so we need to pull data for over 100 accounts at least once or twice a day. I keep running into the "Rate limit exceeded" error through the Datorama systems.

I need to know how to resolve this. Is the limit enforced per user? Because I have only one user pulling all the data.

Is it possible to increase this limit?

Ultimately, I work with 4-5 platforms at this scale and I don't have rate limit issues with any of them, except for Outbrain (or Teads, whatever you call it now).

📝 Key Questions to Address (for their convenience)

  1. Is the rate limit per user or per account/marketer entity?

  2. Can we increase the rate limit for our account?

  3. What is the recommended best practice (e.g., pagination, time delay) for agencies managing this scale of accounts?

Additionally, over the last 24 hours, I haven't been able to pull data for even a single account

Hi Ben,

Thank you for reaching out to the API support team.

API access for your account has been granted today, around 2h ago, so you can pull data now - before, you didn't have the option as you didn't have access to the API.

In regards to the limit, here are the API limits:
- authentication requests to obtain token (/login) limited to 2 requests per hour per user,
- usage of a single token (on a user basis) limited to 30 requests per second for the entire API,
- each marketer is limited to 30 requests per minute for the entire performance reporting API,
- each marketer is limited to 50 requests per minute for the entire realtime performance reporting API

More about the limits you can read here

Currently we don't have an option to increase the rate limit.

In regards to the suggestion, please provide me with a concrete example of what type of data in what volume you're trying to pull and the team will have a look at it and provide you with possible suggestions, if applicable.

In case of additional questions, please reach out.

Best regards,
Aleš

Hi Ben,

In this instance you can reply only to me (privately), so we can check further options.

Best regards,

OK, thanks.

I am using the email "adw...@web-team.co.il" (with the username "beatband"). We are a Premium Outbrain Partner.

I have been using Datorama for a year to pull data on a daily basis (usually 2-3 times a day). While I have had occasional problems with your limits, the current issue is that I cannot pull data at all. My attempts at 7:00 AM failed, and even after trying a few small requests an hour ago, all of them failed. The consistent response is the "Rate limit exceeded" error.

Since the limit is defined per hour, minute, and second, this behavior does not make any sense after several hours of inactivity.

Hi Ben,

Please provide me with an advertiser Id, so I can look up the information, on the advertiser level.

Also provide me with an example of an API call that's failing,if you have any, if not - please provide me with a screenshot of the error in the Datorama dashboard that you're receiving.

Best regards,
Aleš

Here is some examples that it happened:

Hi Ben,

Happy to hear it worked. What did you do differently so that it worked?

PLease provide me with some context, what are the Ids you shared with me? From a marketer, campaign, something else?

Best regards,
Aleš

I did not do anything different, it happens from time to time.
I sent you the marketers' ID as you asked. If you view API calls per marketer, you'll see that errors occur periodically.
