Tuesday 26th October.

Hey (Servus - bavarian way of saying hello and goodbye)

So since last time not alot is new, I left you with the news of the Orientation camp since then it has been pretty normal mundane life.

I went and saw a football match Nuremberg against Schalka in the Nuremberg easy credit stadium, was really amazing the atmosphere that german football has, having the Ultra's from both teams attending putting on a great display, it was quite special as Nuremberg had not won against this team in 11 years straight and the day i was there they managed to win 2-1! putting them ahead of germans debatably best football team ''Bayern Munich'' even if it was only for a few weeks ha ha.

Our new mexican exchange student is getting along ok although not being able to speak a word of english and still not much german makes it hard to converse with her. Our school finally set up some kind of exchange student counsellor person where we now are supposed to meet every second week, but I'm yet to hear anything more about it, Although the first meeting we learnt there was a russian girl with another organisation here in the school for one year. On topic with exchange students It's rumoured an Australian girl is coming to our club in January though I'm unaware of any details but will probably find out this friday when I help process more applications with the YEO chairman.

I was supposed to head down to Munich for a weekend with my host parents but because of bad weather they didnt go, so think this oppurtunity has now passed seeing as the weather leading into winter is definetly not going to get any better.

In 2 weekends my Rotary club as organised with a local art gallery to hold a Photo exhibition in the Sparkasse (Bank) where photos will be available to purchase, their rotary member who passed away recently was a keen photographer so they will be selling some of his works.

tonight I'm heading to Füth to see them play football against Augsberg both teams are similarly skilled which should make for a good game.

This Sunday I will be heading to Berlin with another rotary district for their Berlin tour from Sunday until Friday, it should be great as I havent seen Berlin yet and expect with so much time there I will be seeing all the good stuff! After that there is a overnight camp in Weimar near Erfurt with the districts ROTEX although its a site of a concentration camp I don't think we will be getting to see it which is a shame.

Sorry I dont have much else to report but as I said pretty mundane at the moment, I'm really looking forward however to December because there will be so many Christmas Markets on, Nuremberg has one of the Oldest and largest in Germany and my town also has one where the special Wine drunken over the colder months is available its traditionaly Red wine but white is also available and its mixxed with herbs and spices and then heated very hot so you can drink HOT wine in the cold, so Its bound to be interesting to try. Not sure how I will manage the cold weather as its already 0-4 degrees here in the mornings with cars completely white but we shall see. Germany has been predicted this year to have its Coldest winter ever, even colder then last year.

For anyone interested in reading up on German news and politics I found an english website reporting it all.

Oh and to Grandma and Grandpa, Hope all is well and you guys are seeing emily lots!

Anyway hope all is well,
Regards,
Ryan

Peace☮

Hi Ryan, Good to hear of your adventures and must congratulate you on the
writing, very informative.
We just had our District Conf. at Nowra so went to a fair bit of the
sessions. Met the German GSE team members briefly.
Rotary going on as usual of course. Weather warming and more rain than
usual (good).
My wife and I had a great holiday of two weeks in the Canadian Rockies and
a week cruise up the Alaskan coast in June last.
Unfortunately on those sort of hols you don't get to meet many locals as
you are doing.
I should have some rotary pics some where but cant remember which drive
they are on, will try and find and send later.
All the best for the rest of the year and greetings to all your German
friends.
