Subject: Statement of apology
Dear Organizers,
I want to apologize for the frustrations you may have experienced trying to watch the 2% Solution web cast.
For those of you who were struggling to get real-time video of the broadcast tonight, this was an issue of surpassing the bandwidth. There were simply far too many people across the country trying to watch it at the same time. And although we had anticipated 10,000 screenings, far more logged on than we had expected. In a positive light, this means that thousands of more people care about finding solutions to global warming that we thought. The archived version of the web cast will be available in 1 hour at www.earthdaytv.net<http://www.earthdaytv.net/>. It is a wonderful program with tremendous amounts of information and participation from our world leaders on the issue.
The second thing I want to apologize for relates to the text messaging during the web cast. It is my understanding that there were some very inappropriate messages that ran across the screen that do not reflect the vision or values of Focus the Nation. I deeply regret these offenses. We had a team of people working to censor these messages, but I fear that some made it onto the screen before we could catch them.
Tomorrow is a big day for everyone. Please remember how proud I am of all the work you are doing. I want to let you know how sorry I am that the web cast may have frustrated you, and remind you of how strong we will all be tomorrow as we collectively dig further into finding solutions to curb this crisis.
Sincerely,
Eban Goodstein
Project Director, Focus the Nation
