The board met last week and again this weekend to review the situation
and decide if the contest was financially viable given the number of
tickets sold and that only one contestant has stepped forward. It was a
difficult choice given that the team put so much effort into the contest
but a necessary one to protect the club.
Ticket holders can obtain a refund from your ticket seller. I will be
at coffee on 02 Oct 11 as well as the next brunch on 16 Oct 11.
The board will be meeting with the sponsors and partners to explain the
decision and to settle any outstanding issues.
I want to thank Stephane for stepping forward. It takes courage to be a
contestant.
As per the rules, Jimmy continues to be Mr Ottawa Bear until he is
replaced or he decides to resign.
The board also decided to hold a special general meeting to take place
immediately after the brunch on 16 Oct 11. At this time, the board will
seek input from the membership on the future of the MOB contest.
