Hi All,

Coming to the end of 2008, it is time for us to have our Annual General Meeting to pick the exec for next year.  We also have some pretty significant issues on the Agenda to discuss about the societys future direction so it would be neat to hear from as many people as possible, even if you can't make the meeting.  This meeting is open to the public, and everyone is welcome to attend if you have an interest in Tabletop or Live Action Roleplaying, Wargaming, Boardgames, or Magic the Gathering.

Wednesday 8th October
(Sorry about the short notice)
Room 6, Clubs and Socs Building, Albany St.

The Proposed Agenda

Final Tournament.
- Falling between the end of Lectures and the beginning of exams, our final roleplaying tournament will be in one week's time on Oct 10th to 12th. Another e-mail about the tournament will be sent location and GMs are confirmed. Please let us know if you are keen to GM any games. It is a free event with some short roleplaying games and usually some board games as well. The organiser of the one shot live action event set in ancient Rome will be conducting some pre registration character matching, and some of the other GM's will be sharing blurbs of their games. If you have never roleplayed before and are keen to try, this is a great opportunity to give it a shot, with some short one-off games and a very friendly casual environment.

Electing the Exec for next year.
- Nominations may be submitted by email in advance if you cannot make the meeting, but the vote will be taken from the members who turn up.  If you cannot make the meeting but would like to volunteer yourself for a position, and you will be a student next year, let us know too.

Summer Game Matchmaking
.
- With many people going home over summer there are spaces in some games for more players, and there are probably some new faces to meet for summer school too.  Let us know your favourite systems and the nights you have free.  You can send in a blurb of your current or potential games for us to advertise for you if you would like more players.

Nexus Closed:
- Unfortunately Nexus Games has closed down recently. If you are interested in relocating events such as CCG tournaments or board game nights, we should be able to find venues through Clubs and Socs if you let us know.

New Members
.
- With Nexus closed, the current exec are keen to take the little lost magic players under our wing and find a new home for Friday Night Magic.  Tonight it is being held in Room 6 of the Clubs'n'socs building on Albany Street.  We are looking for a more permanent booking and want to hear from everyone with regards to the expected turnout and available nights to do it on.  Currently the best available room is being used by our wargamers which means we need to find out if changing nights can better suit everyone.

Grand Plans for Next Year
.
- We want to open the discussion to suggestions for how to bolster our Membership and Involvement for next year.  We have been working on making the society more accesible to people new to roleplaying and we want to hear your ideas about how to do this.  We are starting up a discussion thread on http://www.nexusgames.co.nz/forums/index.php on this subject as well. If you have any ideas for events or functions you think the society should perform you are welcome to voice your opinions on this at the meeting.

President's Birthday.
- Sing Happy Birthday to the president and eat cake.

Hope to see you all there!
