Hi Everyone!
I am sooo excited about this new forum! It's great to see people
connect especially when you are busy working and taking care of your
family!
I am a mother of 2 beautiful children, jack (4) and Victoria (10 this
month). In 2007 my daughter was diagnosed with autism. We've known
she's always had developmental delays but now we had a confirmation.
My concern became not only what i needed to provide her now, but what
this ment to me as her mother for the future. I needed flexiblity in
my schedule and I needed it fast. Working late hours wasn't working
for me anymore. Working a full time job at the time, I decided to take
my new hobby of web design and incoporate it with my 13 years
experience as a corporate executive assistant. Gopher Girl was born!
However, I've realized that where I gained my greatest joy was in the
creative aspects of design. 2 years ago, I ventured on the path of
HTML/PHP/SQL/Java as my significant other needed to find an alternate
solution to Amazon to sell used cds/dvds. So I started digging into
how to create an ecommerce store and built
http://underground-discs.com.
Though painful nights of researching on the internet, and aquiring the
right software, I taught myself web design, logo design, photo
editing, etc.
In the last few months after realizing how much small businesses
needed an inexpensive way to get on the web, I decided to slowly
migrate from a virtual assistance business to a full service web
design/graphic design and marketing company. My hopes are to become a
one stop shop for small business. However, I still offer virtual
assistance to clients needing the added support.
My goals over the next year: Find my nitch, develop my Adobe Flash
skills, work on my SEO strategy, design a template store for people
who have really limited budgets, rebuild my client profile, redesign
our cd/dvd business, keep my clients happy, find new ones :), work on
finding ways to better ways to balance my work/home life, be more
involved in my kids schooling, lose 10 lbs, ummm... I think the list
goes on!
I look forward to meeting/chatting with everyone at OMM!
Kindest regards,
Kimberly
