Google Groups is closing.

We will be moving to groups.io

Let us hope the problems why we did not go there before are fixed.

We will be joining most of the rootsweb list that still exist.

We are going to use the FREE version.

I will not be able to add you only send INVITES.

We will now have the ability to post files.

I will do the mechanical administration but need volunteers to answer questions and eventually take over administration.

Anyone with experience using groups.io & willing to help contact me off group

Big OOPS

I misread.

Yahoo groups closed awhile ago.  Wonder why anounceing Again.

We are setup on groups.io whenever we need to switch.

Should we do it now &  get it over?

I helped with Yvon Cyr group for awhile.

Third time I answered the same Question in six months realized how important having a working ARCHIVE.

You see something on FB grab it before it's gone forever.

Why don't you set up a private group on FB it's free and you can sign up several administrators. You can use the same group name, pictures can be shared and stories. . I think we would have more interaction with each other.

OOPS

The notice we received was for YAHOO Groups was closing. NOT GOOGLE GROUPS.

Why they sent a notice is beyond me.  They closed over a year ago.!!!

So we have our backup all ready to go if google does close.

I asked if we should move now and almost all are saying stay. Your Opinion?

We may be moving some of the smaller groups to consuladate them with their SP???? other site.

Hi Paul,

 

The reason Yahoo sent it is because at the last minute, they preserved the mailing function, but deleted all of the archives. By that time, almost everyone had moved anyway. It’s a good thing, because now they are closing entirely.

 

I’d vote for stay because we are all already here and I can’t think of a reason to go.
