Your signatures have been officially certified to put your new charter
on the ballot for everyone to vote for.

In 29 days, Darrell collected 299 signatures. The county required 217
valid signatures to approve the initiative for the ballot.

Tonight (10/9/2008), the Lafayette City Council decided by 4 to 1
decision to send it on to the voters. They were told by the City
Administrator they could have passed it now, but chose not to. That
works in your favor. With all of the talk about it over the next few
months, more people will get an opportunity to know that the records
will soon be available to all. When current Mayor Don Leard realized
that when this passes, records will finally be open, his response was
"Personally I think we should uh, spend all of our energy trying to
defeat the uh, proposed uh, city uh, charter change in my, in my
personal opinion". (Sound bite here.)

We are very pleased the process has been followed so well with the
professionalism of Candace Haines, City Attorney for McMinnville,
acting as volunteer election officer. We would like to thank the City
of McMinnville for allowing her to act in that capacity.

The next step: make sure you are registered to vote. Come March 10,
2009, you will have the opportunity to re-open the doors at Lafayette
City Hall. Anyone will have the opportunity to be heard. No more will
questions go unanswered. You will have the opportunity to utilize
volunteers and restore Lafayette to its great heritage and participate
in the process you pay for.

Make a decision to:

Challenge the city do more without spending more.

Challenge the administration to be accountable
for the dollars it spends.

Create an environment where
truthful information is an expectation, not a surprise.

See you at the polls - March, 2009
