As of the fourth quarter of 2022, Netflix had over 231 million paid subscribers around the world [*]. This ever-expanding user base and its seething mass of personal information make Netflix a pliable target.

For Amber Torres, it was the unusual, look-alike Netflix URL that gave away an otherwise flawless smishing scam [*]. An unprompted text message claimed that Netflix couldn't process her payment. The message also included a URL that misled Amber into re-entering her username and password on a fake login page.

You may receive an email out of the blue that contains a link to a short survey. These unsolicited emails peddle free gift cards in return for your responses. The email subject line, copy, and buttons are all carefully crafted to make you click on a phishing link.

In this email phishing scam, Netflix imposters notify you that your account has been suspended. The message contrives a problem with your billing information and includes a link to validate or renew the account.

True to the narrative, this call to action also directs you to a Netflix look-alike website designed to steal your data or money. As you can see, these emails bear unsettling resemblances to actual Netflix communications and could easily pass for legitimate emails.

A Netflix Tagger was a once-official Netflix job title that took off in 2015 [*]. These part-time hires were required to have voracious appetites for Netflix content in order to best categorize it for users.

These attacks are often elaborate, with convincing intricacies that include functioning CAPTCHA pages hosted on secure domains. You may even be redirected to the real Netflix homepage after you surrender your information on the phony site.

According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), an influx of recent reports indicate that victims have been targeted with malicious pop-ups [*]. These pop-ups may flag false errors with your device or streaming app, and can elicit phone calls to a specific number.

Exercise caution when you receive text messages or emails containing links, especially if they are from unknown sources. Look for red flags such as poor grammar, a sense of urgency, or off-brand design. If you're unsure, go directly to the Netflix website or app and log in from there to access notifications.

Create a strong and unique password for your Netflix account to prevent unauthorized access. Avoid easily guessable information such as names or birthdays. To manage these complex passwords, use a secure password manager like the one included in every Aura plan.

Keep your devices updated with a reputable antivirus software program. This can prevent malware and other threats from breaching your Netflix account. In general, software updates nestle security patches for vulnerabilities that hackers are known to exploit.

Regularly review the devices connected to your Netflix account by visiting your account settings. Look for any unfamiliar devices or unusual activity. If anything seems awry, sign out of the device from your account and immediately change your password.

Check your Netflix account settings to make sure your password recovery phone number is up to date. If you lose your password or need to recover your account due to security reasons, you'll be able to access your account more easily.

If you come across any potential security vulnerabilities or phishing attempts related to Netflix, report them right away. Netflix also has a bug bounty program for security researchers to report issues.

Scammers may have gotten your email address from a recent data breach, or from third-party sources such as data brokers. You can avoid Netflix-related scams by knowing how cybercriminals may make an assault on your account.

Managing your online presence can quickly become a litany of time-consuming steps. With Aura, you have 24/7 access to a team of U.S.-based Fraud Resolution Specialists and up to $5 million in insurance coverage for eligible losses due to identity theft.

I enrolled in NFL+ Premium (Seasonal) & Netflix Special Offer through +play. I need help to cancel the NFL+ subscription. I have tried the following to cancel the subscription and have been unsuccessful.

Apparently the NFL subscription doesn't have a toggle off bc its tied to the Netflix. So you'll need to click the 'Off' toggle for Netflix. But don't worry because your Netflix is still good til the expiration date. You just turned off the auto renew for the free Netflix subscription. Hopefully that makes sense?

Well shoot I'm not sure about that NFL+ only issue then. I just remember not getting the option to cancel NFL+ in the actual NFL+ account nor in the Verizon account. Then I found out NFL+ was grouped with Netflix and somebody on the back end said I could only cancel NFL if I cancelled auto renew for Netflix. Like a pkg deal?

Appreciate you trying. The entire things is frustrating. It doesn't work. Can't cancel easily and every representative tells me it can't be cancelled which is obviously very false. This is gunna be a very long and frustrating issue

After weeks of dealing with multiple agents I'm still trying to cancel. One rep told me I am not able to cancel this subscription but need to wait and choose not to renew but was unable to state how not to renew. Another rept insisted this has to be cancelled through Google, which it does not even show up as a subscription though YouTube tv. I contacted Google who said I need to contact Verizon. The third rep insisted that this is not a Verizon subscription and I need to contact NFL. This close to the worst customer service I've experienced. I just want to not be charged $400+ and cancel the promotional offer. I've gotten the "DMs" on this page from reps who ask when I can be contacted, I respond and no contact is made. How in the world does one just cancel the service?

This article only applies to customers who have subscribed to Netflix through an X1 TV Box or Xfinity Flex streaming TV Box, also known as Comcast-billed Netflix customers. If you have Netflix included in your X1 package, see Netflix FAQs.

We provide Comcast billing for your Netflix charges as a convenience. Your Netflix subscription charge will appear on your Comcast bill under the Other Service Providers heading and will include the amount of the charge and the date through which you will have service, as determined by Netflix. (Please note, your Netflix subscription may be subject to associated taxes and fees.)

If you are on a trial or promotion, your Netflix subscription will still appear on your statement, but will show a $0.00 charge. At the end of the trial or promotion, the charge will reflect the price of your Netflix subscription package. Please see netflix.com/youraccount for a summary of your Netflix account status, plan and charges.

You may change your method of payment from your Comcast bill to a credit or debit card or another payment option accepted by Netflix at any time. To do so, contact Netflix support at netflix.com/youraccount. Note that Comcast-billed Netflix charges count toward your Xfinity On Demand/Pay Per View purchase limit unless Netflix is included in your Xfinity package.

One common problem to be aware of is accidentally signing up for an additional Netflix subscription on Xfinity Flex or X1 while already having an existing Netflix subscription that is using a different method of payment. If this happens and you would like to cancel your Comcast-billed Netflix account, contact us. To cancel or request credits for any other Netflix accounts, contact Netflix support at netflix.com/help.

My current Virgin contract is up for renewal in September and I received an email from them regarding a renewal price. I was a little suspicious of the email so I contatced them via their online chat.

When I contacted them (after two 3 hour waits) I was told the actual cost was going to be 144.99. When I queried this and stated the email price of 76 they said they couldnt help me and put me through to the 'specialist' team.

This team started offering me this that and the other but it wasnt comparable with my current package (Gig1, sports HD, movies etc). When I asked for a like for like quote they came back with 152.24. At this I said, politely, I would be terminating my contract.

Anyway after a while they came back with a figure of 92.99. This aligns with what I was paying before the recent discount so I said I was happy with that as long as it was EXACTLY the same as my current package i.e. includes Netflix premium, Gig1, Sports HD, movies etc. They stated on the whatsapp chat they are all included.

I'll watch your thread with interest as I received an email communication offering me a 17 a month off my current pricing. When looking at my contract pdf I noticed that it didn't include the free netflix, also there was no mention of my second 360 box. The estimated activation date was last Saturday 22nd July but it still hasn't gone through.

Spoke to another CS today and they offered me basically my original package for 70pm. Only thing is that it is Netflix Standard and they have said I need to talk to netflix direct to upgrade to Premium (5). I have added Sky UHD (sounds like long life milk lol) so my revised price is 80pm which includes all sports and movie channels plus Gig1 and support for 2 boxes. Tey sent me a link via Whatsapp with the contract but I have not received an email or had my account updated to reflect this yet. Patience I suppose.
