Bonjour Cousins,

Attached is our Winter 2022 edition of "Generations".  As the winter begins to wind down and spring emerges, enjoy reading about our family and the Acadians.

Inside you will find the latest information on our upcoming Reunion for the Grand Réveil at Rayne, Louisiana on 8 October 2022.  It will be a fun time for all as we emerge from the pandemic after two years.  We have a very interesting speaker, some excellent Cajun food, a little Cajun music and lots of time to mingle and visit among the many displays.   Read the information and, if you have an interest in attending, please email    guidry...@gmail.com    with the number of folks in your party.  This is NOT a commitment - only a rough headcount so we know how much space and food we need.

When traveling this spring and summer, why not visit Pennsylvania and New Jersey and see some Acadian sites there.  You can read all about them in this issue.

Being that this is Women's History Month in the U.S., we've included a very interesting article on three outstanding Acadian women - two of which have Guédry or Petitpas connections.  I believe you'll find their stories outstanding.

Another remarkable young lady in the Guidry family has distinguished herself yet again.  Ms. Olivia Guidry has been named to a distinguished position at the Louisiana State University Law School.

And don't forget to try one of the excellent recipes in Bon Appetit.  I personally love the baked cushaw.  Brings back fond memories of my grandma making it for us young boys.  The two books in the Book Nook are excellent.  Both are quick reads and memorable.  And my favorite section is the old news stories in Historical Tidbits.  Always something interesting in there about our family.

Good reading and enjoy the upcoming Spring,

Marty

Do you have any information on the well being of Paul LeBlanc?  I and some of his genealogy group have been wondering how he is doing.  We would really appreciate knowing how he is doing.

Thank you

Glenda,

My last contact with Paul was about 6 months ago.  A couple of us became worried in that we had not heard from him in a long time.  We finally located him in a long-term care hospital in Baton Rouge where he went because he could no longer take care of himself living alone.  He has severe diabetes and is very overweight.  He has a cousin locally who is helping him as needed.  I don't believe he is on the computer much if at all anymore.  We did speak with him and he seemed to be doing okay under the hospital care.

That is about all that I know at this time.

Marty

Vicki LeBlanc at ldr...@aol.com   asked that I post this to see if anyone can assist her.  Please reply to Vicki at ldr...@aol.com .

I am the granddaughter of Zowell Joseph LeBlanc (7 Dec 1879-1954) and Lillian Hamelin (1886-1940).

Zowell’s parents were Euphreme dit Raymond LeBlanc (b. 1817 Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec) and Eloise Landry (b. 1825 Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec). Their marriage took place in 1846 Carleton, Bonaventure, Quebec.

Going back in time, I believe I can trace all the way back to Daniel LeBlanc b. 1626 and Marie Francois Gaudet b. 1623 who married and died in Port Royal, Annapolis Cty, Nova Scotia, Canada but here’s my stumbling block.  I can’t find documentation of Zowell Joseph LeBlanc’s birth which I was always told was in Canada (even though his military registration says Chippewa Falls, WI, US) and I believe the family traveled here in 1883 but again, am not finding documentation.  I hope to travel to Canada this summer on a genealogy trek but would really like to confirm Zowell’s birth place before I go.  Would also like to link up with other LeBlancs.  Any suggestions on where to look or travel tips would be greatly appreciated!  Vicki LeBlanc, WI and AZ, US
