There
seems to have been an error in Don’s info given in response to this question on
the Louisiana board. I have relooked at it and am posting what I believe
is the correct answer. It has to do with the parents of Alexandre
Boudreaux (as son of Ursin and Oliva Guidry). He was rather the son of
Pierre-Lucien and Marie-Rosalie Daigle. Here’s how I figured that out.
From the vital records:
Homer BOUDREAUX (Alexandre & Carmelite Richard)
Edmonia ALBERT (Auguste & Elisabeth Vining) [she was a twin to brother, Edmond]
civil mg. intention: St. Martin Parish courthouse, 28 Dec 1901
religious mg. St. Martinville, LA [St-Martin of Tours Church] 9 Jan 1902
Alexandre BOUDREAUX (Pierre & Rosalie Daigle)
Carmelite RICHARD (Bienvenu & Aurelia Feltman/Felterman)
civil mg, intention: Franklin, LA 25 May 1872
religious mg. Franklin, LA [Assumption Ch.] 27 Feb 1875
I then went to the census records to substantiate the conclusion of his parents:
1870 census of Lafayette (for Ursin & Oliva) (Family #1022)
their son Alexander is 15y, which matches his birth in Lafayette on 10 May 1855; this Alexander married in Lafayette, LA [St John Ch] on 15 Jun 1878 Carmelite GUIDRY (Treville & Leontine Stutes). He and Carmelite are alive in the 1900 census, and he died in 1906 (and is supposedly buried in Scott, LA).
1850 census of Assumption Parish (for Pierre & Rosalie) (Family #808)
their son Alexander is 3y, which matches his birth on 10 Oct 1847 and baptism in Plattenville on 1 Feb 1848 (godparents: Edmond Bourg and Azema Daigle) [DOBR/BRDA, Vol 7, p 72].
It is this Alexander who appears again in the 1880 census of St. Mary’s Parish with his wife Carmelite RICHARD (Family #7) as 33y; thus he was born in 1847.
Finally, he did not die in Paincourtville. Alexander and his wife Carmelite (Richard) died and were buried in Loreauville (see Find a Grave), where Alexander’s tombstone gives the 10 Oct 1847 date of birth carved in stone along with his death date of 21 Jan 1891. To corroborate this, this couple does not appear in the 1900 census of the parish, thus they were obviously both deceased by that year. So he has to have be the son of Pierre and Rosalie, and not Ursin and Oliva (whose son Alexander was still alive). Alexander's wife, Carmelite Richard, is buried with him in the Loreauville cemetery.
Hope you can follow my train of thought on this. I am surprised Don did not notice the difference when compiling his Boudreaux info, but I am redoing everything from scratch for all the Boudreau (-x, -lt, -ot) families since their beginnings, in Canada and in the United States, corroborating everything along the way using what vital records and census records exist to create a more exact genealogy of the entire Boudrot family.
This then should be his correct lineage, and Don’s information should be corrected as well.
Sincere regards,
Dennis Boudreau
