How to tell stories

[Toastmaster]

I recently joined Toastmasters International near San Francisco. They
have clubs all over the world that meet regularly to build
communication and leadership skills. "Our stories" seems like another
wonderful way to help us all feel connected. For example, in my club,
I have listened to people from Russia and India, people from families
of 9 kids, people who grew up during the Depression and are decades
older than me, people sharing their saddest and happiest stories.
These people have become my friends through our weekly meetings. I am
learning to tell my own story more powerfully, and to use stories to
inform, persuade or inspire. These skills have helped all of us grow
professionally and personally.
