I have been reviewing the 2/1 game forcing convention as I look into
potentially adding drury bids.
If each of you could answer some questions, that would improve my
understanding of the partnership agreements we have.
Do we play 2/1 in response to third and fourth seat openers (meaning
partner has already passed)?
What is the meaning of 1NT in response to a third or fourth seat
opener? Is it forcing? Semi-forcing? Standard? What is it's point
range?
This should be answered from the above questions, but what would you
respond to a 3rd/4th seat opener with an 11 pt. hand and 5 clubs and no
spade support?
If you play drury, what is your weak response to 2C? 2D or 2S (if
playing in spades)?
Thanks,
Peter
a) No 2/1 only applies after 1st or 2nd seat openers
b) in response to a 3rd or 4th seat openeing, 1NT is natural and passable.
Same as SAYC.
c) 2NT, natural and passable. Jacoby 2NT is also off by a passed hand.
d) These days most play that a rebid of two of the major is weak and
anything else is not.
