Hi everyone,
My niece has signed up to raise money for youth cancer victims, please see her email below and the link is http://osl.iowa.uiowa.edu/dancemarathon/donate/2/3320 if you would like to donate. I would like to help her blow her $400 goal out of the water! This cause really puts things in perspective.
Subject: Dance Marathon Donations
I am participating in Dance Marathon. It is an organization that
supports young cancer victims and their families. Each dancer needs to
raise at least $400 to participate in the BIG event in February, which
is literally dancing for 24 hours. Throughout those 24 hours and along
the way, we get chances to hang out with the children that we are
supporting. We can visit them, play games, and just give them support to
get through their horrible experience. The money goes towards various
things, including co-pay for the children's medical bills, costs for new
technology for research, memorial and funeral costs, comfort kits for
the families (money for parking, meals, gas, hotels, etc.), and other
medical research projects and treatments.
I listened to a mother talk last night about her 4 year old daughter
that was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of her liver, lungs, and stomach.
She had many treatments, lost her hair, and had a liver transplant. And
now she has been cancer free for 9 months and is in kindergarten. A
slideshow was played of the little girl and it was amazing. There were
pictures of her without any hair and lying in the hospital bed with a
million tubes coming in and out of her. I can't even imagine how a 4
year old could go through that, or even her family.
So I was wondering if you could help me in getting the word out and
asking people to donate to me for the kids. It would be easiest to go to
my Online Giving page which is:
http://osl.iowa.uiowa.edu/dancemarathon/donate/2/3320
But cash and checks are also accepted. I have 100 days to raise at least
$400. So hopefully I can get some good donations for the kids.
Thanks!
