The /searchdate function returns few results

I am trying to use /searchdate function to retrieve the tweets which are more than 8 days ago, but strangely it only returns 1 result. Moreover, when I remove the maxtime constraint, the API returns quite a lot of results. Is this a bug or the result is constrained by the API?
