Just in from "Lifeforce"

Dear Friend:

I thought you might be interested in the recent Vancouver  Sun story about Lifeforce’s work to get better protection for endangered orcas. The story “Activist urges Canada to adopt Washington’s stricter whale watching rules” is at:  http://www.vancouversun.com/technology/Activist+urges+Canada+adopt+Washington+stricter+whale+watching+rules/4589581/story.html

Increased safety zones around orcas are a step forward but it is not good news that the No Go Zones were excluded. Critical orca habitats off San Juan Island, Point Roberts and the Fraser River will still have boats harassing orcas. The safety zones should also be 400 to 500 yards for all.

Most importantly, laws are only effective if there is enforcement. Presently there is no US government money to maintain whale patrols and education.

The endangered orcas are transboundary species. It is the moral obligation of both Canadians and Americans to protect them. Please continue to help Lifeforce fight for the orcas and the many others who continue to be exploited by humans.

For Freedom,
