Right now, Marie and Shelley are chained up and barely able to move on a concrete parking lot. They need our help.

As you read this, Marie and Shelley are once again trapped inside a tent and forced to stand on concrete all night long. They each have two legs shackled with heavy chains so they are barely able to move. Tomorrow, a trainer will come to their tent and hit them with metal bullhooks to make them perform under the big top. They will be forced to act in unnatural ways in front of a screaming audience before being forced back into their tent, shackles put back on, and spend another long night standing on the concrete parking lot.

Marie and Shelley are the elephants currently being used and abused by the Shrine Circus. After their time in Ottawa they will be put into the back of trucks or trains, again with chains and shackles, and shipped to the next city to do it all over again. Elephants in the wild walk up to 50 miles a day. Marie and Shelley get to walk freely for just a few minutes everyday, if we can call "walking freely" being forced to perform under the threat of violence. Marie and Shelley need you to speak for them.

Tonight we had about 26 people come out to educate the public about the abuse animals suffer in circuses. While only a few people turned away, no one will be able to attend another animal circus without being fully aware of the horrors these animals suffer to put on a "show".

Demonstrations continue this weekend and we need you. Marie and Shelley need you.
Performances beging at 12pm, 4pm and 7:30pm on Saturday.
1pm and 5pm on Sunday. We will be there at least 1 hour early and we hope you will join us. 480 Coventry Road, just west of St Laurent Mall.

It's time to put an end to this old fashioned and barbaric form of "entertainment". Marie and Shelley are counting on us.
